Humming has several measurable effects in the body, especially in the nose, sinuses, and nervous system.

When you hum, air vibrates in your nasal and sinus cavities, increasing pressure and resonance there. This mechanical vibration has been shown to sharply increase nitric oxide levels in the nasal passages, a gas that helps regulate blood vessel tone, supports local blood flow, and can improve airflow through the upper airways. Nitric oxide also has antimicrobial properties in the respiratory tract, which may support sinus and nasal health.

Humming also engages the muscles of the throat, chest, and diaphragm in a slow, continuous out-breath. This kind of prolonged exhalation is known to stimulate the vagus nerve, which is a key part of the parasympathetic (“rest and digest”) system. Activating the vagus nerve can lower heart rate, improve heart-rate variability, and promote a shift from a stressed, fight-or-flight state toward a more regulated, relaxed state. Together, these effects help explain why humming often feels calming, grounding, and spacious in the body.

Did you ever notice how hard it is to change a habit, and how you somehow end up back in the same old routines even when you’re really trying not to? It can feel like you’re sabotaging yourself, but what’s actually happening is your brain running the pathways it knows best.

Inside your brain, the tiny connections between nerve cells – synapses – get stronger every time you repeat a pattern. Stress → chocolate, lonely → scrolling, overwhelmed → shutdown; each time you do it, that route becomes more familiar and easier to fire. This is called synaptic plasticity, and it’s your brain’s way of learning what’s “normal” for you. So when you try to do something new, you’re not just fighting willpower; you’re gently training your brain to build a new pathway while the old one is still very well-worn. That’s why change feels hard at first, but with repetition and support, those new connections can become the default.

Healing somatically is not only your body it is your mind and energy which comes into this process. We need to stop being scared of the shift we need to be curious! I worked with many lovely souls who seen shifts from smaller to bigger ones and they all seen them! Relief in pain, calmer, more vivid imagination, shifts in thinking - decision making became easier. Every person will see shift in a different way - the more you surrender to the process the more you will gain from it!

When we are in a dorsal collapse state (also called a shutdown or freeze response under acute stress), our brain gets hijacked by the instinctual reptilian brain. In survival mode, we disconnect from logical thinking, become hypervigilant, and our brain constantly scans for threats or domination.
Hence we cannot think our way out of things because the neocortex (our logical, reasoning brain) goes offline, leaving only the primal reptilian brain in charge of survival instincts. No amount of willpower or positive thinking can override a nervous system that believes it's fighting for its life.
That's why working with your nervous system changes everything – not just calming it down after the storm, but catching those quiet early signs (like a tight chest or quick breath) and shifting things before overwhelm hits.

This is how I do holosomatic therapy and somatic counselling – walking you through it gently, helping you spot your own cues, and giving you real tools that stick around for the long haul.
If you're feeling stuck and want an approach that truly gets you – working from the biology (nervous system), body (tension & release), mind (patterns & rewiring), and that deep sense of embodiment, drop us a message and schedule a discovery call!

Hi Ladies and Gents,

Preparations for a very special and unique experience are now in motion... As today marks the beginning of Chinese New Year – the Year of the Horse – I invite you to come to these sessions fully focused on your intention for the year ahead and beyond.

We’ll start by calming your nervous system with gentle breathwork, then move into a meditative state where we rewire your brain through the magic of neuroplasticity and focused attention. Join us to fully step into your power, release old patterns, and plant seeds for the vibrant future you deserve.
with Love,
Anna

Experts and psychologists suggest that while the subconscious governs most of our life, it can be reprogrammed or managed through:
Mindfulness/Meditation: Increasing awareness to catch automatic, negative thoughts.
Habit Formation: Consistently practicing new behaviors to create new neural pathways.
Positive Affirmations/Hypnosis: Using repetition to rewire old, limiting beliefs.
Your subconscious mind holds a massive reservoir of knowledge accumulated throughout your life.
And it occasionally sends ‘messages’ through wisdom, insights, and guidance to your conscious mind.
And you become conscious within your subconscious.
Suddenly, you’re no longer receiving sporadic bytes of wisdom like you are in the Waking State, but you’re in direct communication with your inner intelligence.

This is profound.

Hey my lovely souls,

I thought it would be a good idea to show the face behind Unstoppable Voices.
Hey, hey Its Anna here:) so, shall we dig in?

My journey to wellbeing and self-discovery started when I was truly struggling – overload from day-to-day life, motherhood, work, all those relationship expectations... things weren’t all rosy at all. You know those moments when you just feel so lost and unheard? That was me.

I went to therapy, and yes, it helped open my eyes to the mess my life was in. I was stuck in constant fight-or-flight, running on autopilot. But even after therapy, something was still missing... Then by chance, I discovered somatics! Oh lord...

At first I was like, "What am I even doing here? This is sooo out of my comfort zone." Super sceptical. But oh my, oh my – Holosomatic therapy changed everything. I’ll never forget driving home 2 hours after my first session, just sitting in complete peace and quiet, shocked at what had unfolded. I reflected on so much and knew this was the answer to dig deeper I’d been missing.

Fast forward: I’m now a trained therapist in trauma-informed somatics, breathwork, body & energy work, and other beautiful modalities. I create safe spaces for people ready to discover real change. Have you ever wondered why you keep circling back to those old habits? Well, neuroplasticity is a path we explore in my sessions too – because if you’re caught in vicious cycles of your nervous system and craving genuine shift, we can work with that.

Book a discovery call with me, and let’s see if this is your moment. I’ve been right there...
With Love,
Anna

Polarised thinking -
Often, people with trauma find themselves trapped in an inherently negative mindset, frequently seeing everything in black-and-white terms. It’s really difficult for them to perceive positives (which is why positive thinking approaches usually don’t work in these cases). This stems from their neocortical functions being affected, making it hard to perceive good, bad, the ugly, and the full technicolour spectrum—this is all a byproduct of trauma. These diminished brain functions are caused by dysregulation and disconnection from self, as our nervous system oscillates between sympathetic dominance and dorsal vagal states.
