“With a pencil and paper to hand, a child’s basic instinct is to draw, and by talking through this with an empathetic and caring adult, a child is able to process and make sense of the painful memories that may be effecting their behaviour, and in turn their learning.”

✏️ Would You (or Your child/someone you know) Benefit from Drawing and Talking Therapy? 💬✨

I’m looking to gauge interest in Drawing and Talking Therapy small group sessions for different age groups: children, teens, and adults in Arbroath.

As an experienced Advanced Drawing and Talking Therapy Practitioner, I offer a safe, supportive space where participants can explore their thoughts and feelings through creativity and gentle, non intrusive, conversation.

What is Drawing and Talking Therapy?
It’s a gentle therapeutic approach designed to help people express emotions and experiences that may be difficult to put into words. Through drawing (zero artist flair required) and supportive conversation, participants can process feelings, build resilience, and gain a deeper understanding of themselves.

Group Work Sessions:
🗓️ 5-week block
🕐 1-hour session per week
👥 Small group setting, relaxed, nurturing, and supportive
📍 Suitable for children, young people, and adults

This approach can help with:
▫️ Anxiety or emotional overwhelm
▫️ Low confidence or self-esteem
▫️ Bereavement, separation, or change
▫️ Building emotional resilience and self-awareness

What to expect:
▫️ A calm, creative outlet for self-expression

💛One of the wonderful reported benefits of Drawing and Talking?
Improved social skills 💬💛

When children and young people feel safe enough to explore and process their emotions, they often become more confident in how they connect with others, whether it’s joining in play, expressing their needs, or building friendships.

If this sounds like something your child or young person would benefit from, I'd love to hear from you!

Separation Anxiety

Separation Anxiety Disorder (SAD) is an intense fear of being apart from a loved one or caregiver. It can affect children, adolescents, and adults.

Sometimes, we struggle to understand why we, or someone we care about, feel or behave a certain way. We might not know how to express ourselves using words, or it might just feel too difficult. Sometimes, we simply don’t know why we feel the way we do.

Feelings and emotions can be so deep-rooted that we struggle to bring them to the surface. We might prefer to keep them hidden away rather than face them. But even when buried, they tend to make their presence known. This can lead to symptoms such as:

Nausea

Headaches

Fatigue

Bedwetting

Avoidance of school or work

Tummy aches..and more.

Drawing and Talking is an amazing, person-centred, safe, and non-intrusive therapeutic intervention designed to support individuals, young and old, in processing these deep-rooted emotions.

Using just a pencil and paper, and within a very safe and supportive space, we can gently access the subconscious. This taps into the creative, right side of the brain, allowing feelings such as hurt, trauma, fear, and anxiety to be expressed. From here, the logical, left side of the brain 🧠 can begin to understand and process these emotions, often leading to healing, greater confidence, and a more content, happy life.

If you'd like to find out more about how Drawing and Talking can support you, a loved one, or the children, teens, or adults in your school or organisation, please feel free to pop me a message.

🌙Restful Nights Start with Emotional Healing

🌙Parents often report that after completing 12 sessions of Drawing and Talking, children and young people often show better sleep patterns.

🌙By helping them regulate emotions and process difficult feelings safely, Drawing and Talking Therapy supports improved rest, fewer night-time anxieties, and a more settled routine.

If you think that your child would benefit from a safe, person centered therapeutic approach, I'd love to hear from you!
