More variety = more effort.

More shopping, more spending, more planning, more tracking, more understanding...

You would never let anyone come into your work and try snd teach them everything before they even got the first thing right...

Why do the same with nutrition and training??

You do want variety...

A variety of veg, protein sources, carbs and fats...

But get a couple on lock down before you start grabbing new new new...

Thinking about variety throws people off... the more choice you have the harder it is to make a decision...

Get a couple brekkys, couple lunches, couple throw together teas (you know you can't be assed cooked then!) And a couple snacks...

Know the calories, get some protein and you only need to track them once...

You make this harder than you need to.

In Thrive we can figure this out for you... look through menus... create options or guides... with the meals you say you like...

Fat loss can be simple... stop making it harder than it needs.

At least the shorts looked mega!!!

I forgot that I had these photos... so here is a wee dump...

There is a lot I could say about this prep and bodybuilding season... there is a lot of things I could say about my physique and "final package".

Most of it would be negative and I am in waaaay too good of a place to bring these back up.

But here is a couple thoughts that I have had about the season that might help you through something...

Sometimes you can give your all and not come out at your best...

Your best effort might not be your best ever...

In the world of bodybuilding this is still fat.

Body dismorphia is a difficult place to navigate in bodybuilding... in other sports where your performance is key it can be easy to define...

In bodybuilding the goal is get lean and stay big - scrutinising your body is essential to get better.

You need to be able to pick your physique apart but that doesn't necessarily mean you have body dismorphia...

And just because someone is not happy with a body that you would like or admire... does not mean they have body dismorphia.

This season was wild! The standard of athletes is genuinely mental. Some of the soundest athletes I have met too!!!

It was mega cool to look back on but I know I never brought my best... I was fried but the end and I didn't want to just keep pushing. I was done by the end.

I now want to try and find something as hard as bodybuilding (I think it is the hardest thing you can do).

The feeling I have now is excited.

New challenges. New experiences. And looking back and typing this up I actually do have quite a lot of positive feelings and memories.

What a final season.

When you split how I did in the shows with how the whole prep went and the effort that I put in...

I am proud of the efforts.

I gave 101%

For now that is me done with the sport of bodybuilding.

It has given and taught me a lot.

Struggling to see results that stick??

Do you have diet foods? Do you have a set meal plan that when you don't follow you seemnto slip up??

Yea so do a lot of people!

What you eat is less important for fat loss than how much you eat...

Eating healthy is always going to help you along with life... I promise...

Forcing yourself to eat things you don't like or restriction is not the key to success here...

I find fat loss a little easier because my normal helps keep me full and fuelled, but also, I just fall back to that when I am dieting, maintaining or even when I was gaining... the food choices were not much different...

Just the quantities.

Fat loss can be simple but building your habits, changing your behaviours, working on your environment, adapting your lifestyle and changing your mindset are where the struggles are...

You can diet and exercise hard ... but only for a couple days...

You need a few months.

You don't know what you are doing...

You keep guessing and trying something different every week...

Or just waste loads of time "researching"...

You are willing to work but you want that reassurance that it is the right thing...

Or you don't see results doing what you are andbthat demotivates you!

There is a lot of nonsense out there... but it is tarted up to seem like help and information...

You see something controversial and think it is personality or it is thr secret you are looking for...

(**whisper** it is marketing)

This is not a complicated game... but you are.

This is a simple process... but it is not easy (to start with).

Once you know and see how this works it becomes a fun process and you can understand how to get that balance in your life...

Quit making it up.

Get results.

What is normal to the people around you will become your normal...

Where you spend your time, the lay out, the culture... .

YOUR ENVIRONMENT MATTERS.

Honestly...

A coupla treats are not going to cause you to undo the week...

But if you seem to be gagging for the kids to go to bed so you can mutilate the sweetie bag...

Maybe restricted a little too hard this week!

Scranning down sweets like Hannibal Lecter over and over is not just a sweet tooth...

Tearing open the wrappers like Feddie Krueger...

Okay okay... you get the point. A couple sweets won't do anything...

Fat loss requires a calorie deficit...

Maintenance does not...

Depending on how long you diet, how much fat you lose and how long you diet... these all impact your results...

How well you can come out of the fat loss phase determines if you keep the results or not...

Most people just "go back to normal" ...

Normal landed you in a place that you wanted to diet away from...

Cardio can help, exercise can help, steps can help... and doing more can help you burn more calories...

But burning calories intentionally is not the main part of healthy...

Does that make sense? 👆

Use tools to lose fat.

Live healthy and active to keep it off.

What prevents most people from getting results...?

Time!

Jumping too far a head...

Either thinking they are further along the journey or that they are too good for the basics...

You don't need gut resets, cold plunges, or most supplements...

You need the basics!

Crazy expectations

It has taken a longer time for everyone...

But getting it wrong over and over is not speeding it up.

Why do you keep doing stuff you don't like?

Because everyone else is and you don't fully understand that process...

Getting results is a little less about what you do and more about how consistently you can do it...

The time you spend in it...

Have a think about that...

Who's opinion are you letting prevent you from chasing the life you want?

We are human.

Only HUMAN...

You will make mistakes, you will c**k up and you only look silly if you don't try again...

No one remembers the failed attempt if you manage... well no-one you want in your life...

Keep going.
