If you’re squeamish look away now!!

What a whopper this one was!

One of the biggest ingrown nails I’ve come across in a long time, if ever.

What started out as a routine ingrown toenail reduction escalated to removal under Local Anaesthetic and you can see why. The nail was completely embedded into the skin and extremely painful whenever touched.

Patient will have minimal downtime and back to their day to day activities in a relatively short period of time.

No wonder it was sore 😣👣

This is a large nail spicule removed in clinic.
These sharp nail fragments can become trapped down the side of the nail and are a common cause of:

painful ingrown toenails
repeated inflammation
tenderness when wearing shoes
ongoing discomfort that doesn’t seem to settle

Many people think it’s “just a sore toenail,” when in reality there can be a hidden piece of nail continuing to dig into the skin.

Once the spicule is removed, relief can be instant.

If you’ve got a toenail that keeps flaring up, don’t ignore it — it may need proper treatment rather than another round of “waiting to see if it settles.”

✨ Verruca treatment progress ✨

A great example of how verrucae can change with consistent topical treatment.

This Verruca has been ongoing for 6 months.
This is how it looks after two applications of topical treatment.

📸 Left photo:
You can see the more typical appearance of an active verruca — thickened skin, a rough / cauliflower-like surface, and those tiny black dots (which are usually small clotted blood vessels often seen in verrucae).

📸 Right photo:
After topical treatment, the area looks much flatter and less bulky, with a significant reduction in the thickened tissue. The verruca tissue appears to have broken down well, leaving a smaller central area that still needs monitoring.

💡 What this shows:
Topical verruca treatments often work by gradually softening and removing infected skin, rather than making the lesion disappear overnight.

As treatment progresses, it’s common to see:
• less hard skin
• less raised tissue
• reduction in black pinpoint dots
• a smaller treatment area overall

⚠️ It’s important to remember that even when a verruca looks much improved, there can still be residual viral tissue present — so treatment may need to continue until normal skin lines return fully.

🦶 Verruca treatment takes time, patience, and consistency — but progress like this is exactly what we want to see.
