Childhood obesity is rising rapidly, particularly among children of primary school age. It leaves them with life-long risks such as a greater risk of issues such as diabetes, heart disease and some cancers. Now is the time to take action.

This is how to help:
▪ Increase exercise – think about joining a club or team
▪ Get out for walks with your family to increase your steps
▪ Choose snacks such as fruit and raw vegetables instead of processed foods
▪ Control portions at meal times
▪ Aim for five portions of fruit and vegetables per day

Every child deserves the chance to grow, learn, and thrive.

HPV is not just about cervical cancer, the vaccine helps to protect against many other cancers.

Who is eligible for the HPV vaccine?
▪ Year 8 schoolchildren (usually aged 12 and 13) are given the HPV vaccine through the school immunisation programme.
▪ If a child misses their HPV vaccine at school, they can catch up with the vaccine through their school or GP practice and remain eligible to receive it until they turn 25.
▪ Gay, bis*xual and other men who have s*x with men (GBMSM) can have the vaccine up to and including 45 years of age from specialist s*xual health services and/or HIV clinics regardless of risk, s*xual behaviour or disease status.

It is important for all girls who have received the HPV vaccine to also have regular cervical screening once they reach 25.

Help protect yourself. Lets stop HPV cancers together.
