It is with deep sadness that we announce that Elaine passed away peacefully at home, with her Terry by her side, on Sunday 26th October 2025, aged 80 years.

Dearly loved wife to Terry, beloved Mum to daughters Sylvie and Evie and devoted Stepmum to Adam, Sal and Katie.

Adored Nana to Grandchildren Josh, Ella, Ben, Elsie, Leo, Alex, Lainie, Zac and Simi. Cherished sister to the late Annette and Auntie to Karl, Bonn and Scott.

She will be forever greatly missed but always fondly remembered by all those who had the privilege to know and love her.

Elaine was a proud educator and worked as a senior lecturer in fashion for 25 years at the Derby College of Art & Technology before it was renamed in 1992 as Derby University.

Known fondly as ‘the girl with the hair’, she loved sharing her knowledge and experience with students, inspiring many of them to become successful in the fashion industry through her technical expertise and teaching talents.

A celebration of her wonderful life will take place on Wednesday 26th November at 1pm at St Martin’s Church, Church Lane, Osmaston, Ashbourne, Derbyshire DE6 1LX.

Dress code is ‘fabulous fashion’. Please wear your favourite clothes in honour of Lainey’s innate sense of style and her fashion background and talent.

All are welcome after the service to attend ‘The Shoulder of Mutton’ Osmaston, Ashbourne, Derbyshire DE6 1LW for refreshments.

Family flowers only please but donations in memory may be given at the service or paid directly to the Funeral Directors for Breast Cancer UK and St Martin’s Church Maintenance Fund.
