Following recent reports of a meningitis outbreak in Kent, we understand that some patients may feel concerned. This poster highlights many routine vaccinations already protect against meningitis.

The UK vaccination programme has led to a significant decline in meningococcal disease. Staying up to date with vaccinations remains the most effective way to protect you and your family.

What should you do?
👉 Check that you and your family are fully up to date with all routine vaccinations and you can do this via the NHS App.

If you are due for your cervical screening then please contact us so we can get this booked in for you.
This can also be booked via the NHS APP and by a link via our online services. Search for the slots titled 'Cervical Smear'

Cervical screening, which used to be called a smear test, is a test to check the health of the cervix and help prevent cervical cancer. All women aged 25 to 64 are invited for cervical screening every 5 years. Everyone with a cervix should be offered screening.

After a great effort from all of our teams to safely reach the practice, our usual full service is in operation.

We will continue to assess the weather throughout the day and notify patients directly if any changes are needed to pre-booked appointments.

Given the weather forecast for snow overnight (Thursday 8th January), we wish to make patients aware of possible adjustments which may be required tomorrow (Friday 9th January):

- Patients who require urgent medical advice may receive this by a telephone consultation
- Patients who have a pre-booked face to face appointment may be informed that their appointment needs to be changed to a telephone consultation or postponed

Wherever possible we will maintain our usual full service and we will assess the situation as the day progresses.

If any patients wish to postpone their appointments due to the weather conditions, please contact the practice.
