WINTER SOLSTICE has arrived today.
In the northern hemisphere this is the day with the most darkness all year. It’s also the day after a new (dark) moon. So now is definitely a time to step into the light. Although it may feel like there’s still@lots of darkness the light is now slowly increasing. Here’s some suggestions on how to mark this turning point -
- Light candles in the evening and meditate on their flame.
- Have a fire outside or inside and as you watch the flames consider what you wish for in the coming year.
- Imagine a bright light within yourself, a warm nurturing glow. Feel how it can spread from the heart throughout the whole of your being.
- Send your light wherever you feel it’s needed right now in the world.

What's coming up in 2026?
Tomorrow I am heading off to India for a few weeks, returning in January. I'll be sharing my travels on here for you to enjoy.
Once I'm back in the UK in 2026 there are lots of lovely offerings planned.
Ayurveda consultations and treatments will continue as usual at the beautiful near Ashburton.
from 22 January, an 8 week Yoga course both in person (at ) and online.
24 January, a whole day (the first of three seasonal offerings) of Ayurveda, Yoga and Vedic chant, together with .
7 March a half day Ayurveda intro workshop in Devon at

YOGA (part 2 of 2)
What is Yoga? In my experience (from my own practice and from guiding others), this experience is unique for everyone. We are all different in terms of what we need, and so our personal practice reflects this.
Yoga is not being able to do a somersault or put your legs behind your head.
Yoga is about the mind, the body and ultimately the soul or spirit which lies beyond the material and physical world.
Yoga is about so much more than I can describe here, and yet it is also accessible for all of us, absolutely everyone.
Practicing Yoga gives you a sense of peace.
I offer a complete Yoga experience when I guide you in your practice, this means asana (physical postures), pranayama (control of energy often with the breath as a focus), steps to meditation, yoga nidra (sacred rest), aspects of philosophy and so much more.

YOGA (part 1 of 2)
I trained as a Yoga teacher and began teaching in 2008, long before I left my 'proper job' in the NHS in 2016. I taught a lot of weekly classes as well as one to one sessions, workshops and retreats. I was based mostly in the Torquay area of Devon in the early days and I'm forever grateful for those initial years with such a wonderful community sharing these sacred practices.
I have had several years break now from teaching weekly, although I have continued to offer one to one sessions, workshops and retreats during this time. During these years I have learned a great deal about my practice, life and myself. I continue to study and grow in terms of what I feel Yoga 'is'.
Fast forward to 2026 (next year), and after several years break (for various reasons) from offering weekly sessions, I am now feeling ready to share an 8 week course, both online and in person. I hope you can join me.

When the student is ready the teacher will appear.

This past year I’ve been ‘sitting close’ with the incredible
I wouldn’t call this studying in the way that we might usually consider, although I’m learning a great deal about myself, my practice and about life. This way of being feels so very authentic, as I embody the teachings of Ayurveda and Yoga more and more in my daily life experience.
In order to make space sometimes things organically shift and let go, I’ve experienced some interesting physical and emotional changes this year as well as focusing in on my approach in many areas of my work.
All of this focusing on the self and my self practice enables me to nurture and nourish myself, so that I can then more effectively offer the same to others.

YOGA NIDRA ~ Sacred Rest

Yoga Nidra means Yoga sleep. It is a specific way of relaxing the body and mind that takes us into a place where we are not fully awake but not asleep either. This practice is incredibly healing for the nervous system, for anxiety and for easing bodymind tension. Because there is no movement required during yoga Nidra it’s very accessible for anyone.

WEEKLY YOGA starting in January - an 8 week course

Online group starts Tuesday 20th January

During this 8 week journey we will share a practice together that is intuitive, holistic and tailored to the needs of the group. This is suitable for all levels of ability and experience and will incorporate classical yoga practices including asana (postures), pranayama (energy work using the breath), mudras (hand movements), mantra (making sound) and yoga nidra (sacred rest).

SAMHAIN (pronounced sow-wen)
This time of year marks the end of the harvest and the beginning of winter. It is said to be the time when the veil between the worlds of the living and the dead is at its thinnest. At this time we consider the transition from life to death, the end of the harvest, and the beginning of the darker half of the year.
Under the light of the moon and flickering fires and perhaps inside ancient stone circles rituals were performed (and still perhaps are) to connect us with all that has gone before.
The dead are not so far away. We don't know where they go, but they are not to be feared.

USING YOUR VOICE
Join us on 9th November at to explore how we can use our voices to feel empowered and focused.

This full day offering is co-hosted with and includes -
- Yin style yoga, focusing upon heart and throat opening, followed by pranayama.
- Beej mantra with the Chinese Five Element musical notes. Using Solfeggio tuned chime bars to help bring in Chakra alignment and paying specific attention to the throat and heart chakra.
- Using the voice and creating the sounds that represent Autumn Element and Lungs.
- Qi Gong Lung and Heart tapping routine to help with letting go and to strengthen the Lung and Heart Qi.
- Energetic anatomy. Exploring the chakras, heart throat and communication connections.
- How does this affect our physical health, particularly the thyroid.
- Introducing the goddess Saraswati and the concept of Vac, our voice, expressing ourselves and being heard.
- Exploring Simhasana (lions breath), releasing and settling.
- Chinese Five Element Sound Journey to match the Season of Autumn.

FINDING YOUR VOICE - SATURDAY 8TH NOVEMBER
at The Hands On Retreat
Introducing the blue Saraswati, and the story of her voice.
For so much of my adult life, until the last few years, I never spoke up. I didn't fully express how I felt or use my voice to its full potential. Things have massively changed these last few years, and whilst I am still a work in progress, I'm delighted to share with you some of the things that have helped me along the way.
Together with Sally of we will use Yin yoga, mantra, sound and story to explore what the voice means to us and how we can learn to use it more confidently and authentically Part of this day will be sharing and reflecting on the story of the Blue Saraswati.
