Introducing a "Natural Herd"

Many of you may not be familiar with the term natural herd, so I thought I would share some insights into how it's different and why we work with a natural herd at Intuitive Horse.

The horses have been domesticated in the past but no longer live that way. Therefore I would describe them as a semi-wild herd. We keep them as naturally as we can, as a herd which means:
🚫 Not ridden
🚫 Not kept in stables
🚫 No rugs
🚫 No shoes

Working alongside a Natural Herd means...

🔅 They are always loose and can choose whether they want to connect with people or not when they visit.

🔅 We believe in empowering horses and people therefore both are held in high unconditional positive regard.

🔅 We follow the natural horse's behaviour and innate needs to inform and guide our decisions on how to keep the herd and how to work with them
