Nothing predisposed me to become a yoga teacher: I wasn’t flexible as a child, broke my left elbow falling from a beam in PE (that’s showing you how good my balance was) and disliked pretty much all kind of physical activities, apart from dancing. As for the calm aura that yoga teachers seem to project, I had struggled with anxiety on and off since I was a teenager...
It is anxiety that got me to discover yoga. As I was suffering from post-natal depression after my first daughter was born, my GP suggested that I start doing some yoga. After my very first post-natal yoga class, I remember feeling uplifted and amazed that for 90 minutes, my worries had left me in peace. A little voice at the back of my head murmured that it would be great to be a yoga teacher and to be able to make people feel good about themselves.
Not being much of a risk taker, it took 7 years and a few major life changes before I decided to start my yoga teacher training. From the very first day of my training, I felt like I had come home. I was finally learning how to help other people the same way that my lovely yoga teacher had helped me.
Treelight Yoga was born in 2016 when I started teaching private and group classes. Since then, I have been working with wonderful people who have been coming to me for various things such as aches and pains, stress, anxiety, lack of flexibility or simply wanting a chance to relax.
