They didn’t just open a bank. They opened a door.
Until 1974, American women could be denied credit cards, loans, or mortgages simply because they were women — unless a man co-signed. The financial world was a fortress built by men, for men.
So eight women decided to build their own.
Carol Green, Judi Wagner, LaRae Orullian, Gail Schoettler, Wendy Davis, Joy Burns, Beverly Martinez, and Edna Mosely came together in Denver with a radical idea:
If the system excluded women, they’d make a new one.
Each pitched in $1,000 — savings, sacrifice, and sheer belief — to found The Women’s Bank.
For years, they fought skepticism, ridicule, and red tape. Men in the industry laughed. Investors doubted. But on July 14, 1978, the doors finally opened.
And something extraordinary happened.
People lined up down the street — women and men both — eager to support the idea that everyone deserved financial dignity. By the end of the first day, the new bank had over $1 million in deposits.
The Women’s Bank became a symbol of financial independence — not just for Denver, but for the nation. It proved that access to money wasn’t just economics; it was freedom.
“We weren’t protesting,” one founder said later. “We were participating — on our own terms.”
The bank thrived, trained a generation of women bankers, and inspired similar institutions across the country. By the time the Equal Credit Opportunity Act of 1974 began to reshape the industry, the founders of The Women’s Bank had already done something more powerful:
They’d rewritten the rules by example.
When they stood together, they didn’t just handle money —
they handled history.
Eight women. Eight thousand dollars. One million in one day.
And an unshakable truth:
Sometimes the best way to change a system is to build your own.

My Philosophy is: People Matter

What I hold most important is to give each working relationship honesty and respect. I feel that with these foundation blocks anything can be built on top of them. I hold a real importance to the benefits of being outside and how rejuvenating nature can be. I take real joy from supporting others and feel very honoured to work closely with so many different people.

Having practiced yoga personally for over 20 years I began teaching journey recently and have found that walking whilst talking and yoga compliment each other beautifully. What I continue to learn from both give more depth and understanding to working with my clients.

Having supported people through recuperation after illness and worked alongside clients that suffer or have experienced obsessive disorders, abuse, addiction, phobias, relationship issues, bereavement, hoarding and other mental health issues, it made me realise that I could offer a service that is tailor made to the needs of each individual client.
