Last week we hosted another wonderful afternoon tea, this time with a lovely Valentine’s Day theme ❤️

From cracking Valentine’s anagrams to taking on a tricky quiz, it was a fun-filled afternoon enjoyed by all. Thank you to everyone who joined us and made it so special!

We have plans in place that will showcase some amazing organisations holding a fantastic day for the community.

Where you come in:
We want to showcase all the fabulous inspirational women of Ashington/Northumberland. We would like you to send us a photo and a brief paragraph of why they’re amazing.

It could be your grandma, aunty, school teacher, mam, daughter, local shopkeeper, hairdresser, etc…. Whoever has inspired you please let us know.

We also want to delve into the history books and find those amazing North East women like Emily Davison, Cissie Charlton, Josephine Butler etc… if you know of others please email or drop us a comment.

Cygnus Support Hirst Welfare Centre

On 19th November 2025, during the Finance and HR Committee meeting, Newbiggin Town Council approved a £300 grant for Beyond Youth to support their work with local young people.

This funding has helped deliver 𝘁𝘄𝗼 𝗖𝗼𝗼𝗸𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗪𝗼𝗿𝗸𝘀𝗵𝗼𝗽𝘀 delivered by the 𝗙𝘂𝗹𝗹 𝗖𝗶𝗿𝗰𝗹𝗲 𝗙𝗼𝗼𝗱 𝗣𝗿𝗼𝗷𝗲𝗰𝘁, giving young people the chance to learn new skills and enjoy great food together.

On 𝗠𝗼𝗻𝗱𝗮𝘆 𝟮𝗻𝗱 𝗙𝗲𝗯𝗿𝘂𝗮𝗿𝘆 𝟮𝟬𝟮𝟲, Cllr Gwen Woodman, Mayor of Newbiggin by the Sea, visited Beyond Youth situated at Elizabethan Hall to present a large cheque and see the amazing work being done.

Newbiggin Youth Club offer a welcoming space to hang out, eat food, make friends, and have fun - every Monday during term time:-

We’ve got 3 exciting roles available and are looking for passionate people to join our community-focused food projects:

👩‍🍳 Cookery Project Coordinators (2 part-time roles £25,472 pro rata)
Help deliver fun, practical cookery sessions and support people to build skills and confidence around food.

🤝 Volunteer & Engagement Coordinator (1 full time role £25,472)
Support our amazing volunteers and help strengthen connections across our communities.

Yesterday, our adventure with Ruth from Sylvan Skills took us one step closer to completing our willow sensory garden. 🌳

We have another session on 4th February, where we will finish the sensory garden and bring our Luna sculpture to life. 🖤
