Yin is a very restorative practice so if you’re feeling like you need a bit of ‘you time’ this half term, then come along and give it a go. No yoga experience necessary and the only things you need to bring are a drink, a pillow and a blanket, for comfort.

Last week I was back in my happy place: dancing on stage with my friends!

Dance has been a mainstay and a passion for my whole life since I started a class Starlight School of Dance age 2.5. It’s another way I find time for myself and ensure I’m switching off for a bit (whilst having a good old giggle with friends)! And this year I got to share a little bit more of what makes me…me with my little ones!

What are you passionate about? Do you manage to make time for the things that bring you joy?

It may be gardening, reading, drawing, ice-hockey…anything! But having a passion, something that drives us and brings us happiness and a sense of accomplishment, can help us find a deeper sense of ourselves and a sense of self connection. Whilst focusing on our passions, we stop worrying about the stresses of everyday life, just for a bit, and get to be us!

January has been a bit of a rollercoaster…and there hasn’t been much time to sit, breathe and calm things down so I took the chance before class this week to have 5minutes for myself.

It doesn’t have to be a full meditation, or a full yoga class, 5 minutes here and there just to bring the heart rate down is still better than nothing.

On reflection, January was a lot. My intent will be to slow things down for February 🧘‍♀️😌

This Thursday at Studio 24 Astwood Bank. A lovely relaxing and restorative class, suitable for beginners and more experienced yogis.

Bring along a blanket, bolster or cushion and even an eye pillow if you wish. It’s time to get cosy and have some time just for you!

There’s more to yoga than the poses…

With being away, and then being ill over Christmas, I didn’t get chance to do a full yoga flow for myself. Instead, I focused on small isolated stretches to help me move (especially after I had spent time resting in bed or on the sofa).

And that was it…I took the opportunity to rest and recharge…that also included last week when the pull to exercise and get moving was strong. I’ve took it steady, allowed myself time to recover and not rushed back to full speed this last week.

I also took moments (when we were lucky enough to be away) to take in the quiet moments with my family and feel grateful for our health and time together. We were in a beautiful place and I allowed myself to immerse myself in it, rather than worry about work or social media (the only photos I took were ones for myself rather than worry about how they’d look online).

And so my yoga practice was more about rest, family time and gratitude…so please let this be a reminder to you all too: we don’t have to rush back at 1000miles an hour, sometimes our practice can be about the quiet moments where we make time for ourselves.

And for many of you, I know that’s what draws you to class. The quiet moments in child’s pose or savasana when it’s not about the physical benefits, but a time where you’re quiet, alone with your thoughts and you get to change the pace. ☺️😌✨

So here’s to the quiet moments 🤫

All classes are suitable for beginners, but please message me if you need any further information. I provide mats and yoga blocks to help modify any poses.

Chair yoga is held at Millcroft Care Home - please contact them to let them know you’re coming. This is a low impact yoga class suitable for low mobility.

Yin classes are held once a month on a Thursday. ✨

Here’s to another year of yoga and well-being - I can’t wait to get going!

Looking ahead for 2026, I’m thinking about my intent for the year and what I wish for my customers…

⏰ Time with loved ones
😊 Happiness
🧘‍♀️ Mindfulness and mental resilience
🤸🏻‍♀️ Accomplishments - large or small - in yoga classes or everyday life
💖 Community - a safe space fuelled by encouragement and a shared passion
😌 Moments of calm in their otherwise busy lives

I look forward to seeing my regulars back and some new faces in classes over the coming months. Beginners are more than welcome, and can access all of my classes, but please do message me if you have any concerns or questions. I have shared some information on the types of classes I run to help you decide which one might be for you!

Please also note I’ve updated some pricing to make the class passes more beneficial and to reflect costs, thanks for your understanding 💖.

I am also going to trial a new time for Sunday morning classes…Sundays will now start at 9am (it used to be 9.30) to see if the earlier time works better for everyone. I will keep this under review but wanted to give it a try this year!
