Canine massage is a hands on therapy that works on soft tissue and muscular injuries and issues that may appear in your dog as lameness, limping, general stiffness, or simply seeming to be 'old before their time'. These issues can affect a dog's mobility, range of movement and quality of life. Massage works by softening and releasing muscles that are tight and sore, or where there might be trigger points or ‘knots’ causing pain and discomfort, and helps to ease tightness and tension. Canine massage therapy can also help with orthopaedic issues, such as hip dysplasia or arthritis, reducing swelling and inflammation in over compensating muscles and acting as a natural pain relief movement, as well as with some neurological conditions. Massage is also beneficial to working, performance and sporting dogs, and as a post operative therapy. After training for two years with Natalie Lenton at the renowned Canine Massage Therapy Centre, I gained my Diploma in Canine Massage Therapy which uses Sports, Deep Tissue and Myofascial Release techniques. Please contact me if you would like further information either by phone or email and I look forward to helping your dog to an improved quality of life with results you can see and your dog can feel.

Earlier this week I gave my own dog, Berry, a routine massage to keep his hard working muscles in good shape. Today Berry’s Aunty Sarah came to check on his skeletal health and realign any niggly areas that could, in turn, cause problems such as altered gait and overcompensation in joints and soft tissue. Both therapies complement each other perfectly to keep our dogs and as fit and healthy as possible and to reduce the risk of injury.

Beautiful Border Collie youngster, Twinkle, and handsome terrier mix Bertie, recently brought their humans along to an Introduction to Canine Conditioning workshop and both worked their paws off learning new exercises to help with their core strength, balance and flexibility. Here they are showing off their rosettes and certificates. Their humans did pretty well too and we’re looking forward to seeing them back for Part 2 soon.
Now Twinkle, are those ears up or down? 🥰

I have some appointments left next week for clinical canine massage, canine conditioning assessment or general assessment/consultations. Please note new clients will need Veterinary Consent for canine massage.

Message me if you are interested.

The fascinating world of fascia. The 3d 'cobweb' of connective tissue that wraps us all, every bone, ligament, tendon and muscle, keeping us....and our dogs....moving correctly and our muscles healthy. Restrictions in fascia can lead to altered posture and gait and cause far reaching issues in other parts of the body.
Tight fascia = tight dog = unhappy dog

🐾 Fascinating Fascia — the hidden hero of movement 💪

Fascia isn’t just filler, it’s a dynamic, fluid-filled network that wraps around muscles, organs, and nerves. When it’s healthy, your dog moves with ease. When it’s not? You’ll see stiffness, twitching, flinching… even changes in posture or behaviour.

💡 Groomers, owners, therapists, you can help:

✔️ Gentle handling
✔️ Non-slip surfaces
✔️ Light massage
✔️ Movement breaks
✔️ Spot the signs early

Fascia matters. Muscle matters. Your dog’s comfort depends on both.

Did you know....

16/09/2025

Why does muscle get ignored when it comes to injury, slowing down and chronic pain management for our senior dogs with conditions like arthritis? Without muscle the dog would be unable to move (bones don't move themself you know!) So when it comes to 'mystery' pain with your dog, maybe its not so mystery after all.....

This October we are providing loads of free resources for dog owners and canine professionals to help raise awareness of one of the most under evaluated, rarely discussed, routinely missed, and often misdiagnosed areas of the dog....the muscular system.

Today I had the pleasure of helping to introduce Oak, the gorgeous Labrador pupster, to massage, by means of a mini handling session of gentle hands on and touch. The aim was to build her confidence and to acclimatise her to what actual massage treatment might be like should she either need it in future, or to prepare her for general maintenance treatments like her older sisters . Safe to say…we think she enjoyed it 🥰
