I recently moved to the Black Isle from Guernsey, where I was working in Primary Care as Head Osteopath for The Healthcare Group, which is a large medical practise with 4 surgeries. I worked closely with the Doctors in a Joint Care team, which consisted of 3 Osteopaths and 2 Phyiotherapists and led by a GP specialising in Sports Medicine.
I have moved to Scotland because my husband who had been working with SCAA (Scotlands Charity Air Ambulance) in Perth, recently took a job with Helimed 02, which flies out of Inverness. A journey back to his routes as he first flew as part of the team here 20 years ago. With Guernseys’ strict Covid rules we were unable to travel to see each other, so I packed up and swapped one coast line for another.
Prior to Guernsey I worked with some amazing Osteopaths in Cambridge , Essex and Kent. Working in a childrens’ clinic and a multi disciplinary clinic. I graduated in 2009 from the ESO (European School of Osteopathy in Maidstone, Kent), and have since done numerous courses in Classical Osteopathy and OsteoMap.
I am originally from East London in South Africa and left to travel in March 1999. My travels took me to Chicago, England, Ireland, Guernsey and now Scotland.
In South Africa I worked in Sports Marketing, working with provincial Rugby and Cricket teams, I even started up the first Ladies Rugby team in East London. Through travelling I have worked in the hospitality industry, and in gyms as Personal Trainer and also as a Massage Therapist, I have also been a physiotherapy assistant, and an Assistant Lecturer in Classical Osteopathy, I have met people from all over the world and all ages, which has opened my mind and given me some amazing life experiences.
Through my own experiences and those I have learnt from others over the years, I hope to be able to support the needs of my patients.
One thing I have enjoyed about my job is being there for the whole family, from the mums who are pregnant, through the birth to then treating the baby, treating the sisters, brothers, cousins, aunties & uncles, mum, dad, granny, and even the great grandad etc. Meeting people from so many different occupations, and lifestyles and backgrounds can be fascinating. Sometimes working through language barriers, also having a jolly good laugh or even a cry with my patients is all part of the job.
I believe you deserve to be treated as an individual and to be seen and heard, If I can not find a way to help you I will refer to you someone who may be more suited.
When not working I enjoy the beach, the sea and being in it, on it or under it. You may see me on my kayak or paddleboard, I also still love Rugby and Cricket, and do some kickboxing for fitness. I also love riding my Harley Davidson and enjoy flying - I don’t mind planes but prefer Helicopters.
