Introducing hypnobirthing classes at Axminster Health and Wellbeing Centre. Informative and welcoming sessions for parents-to-be who want to give themselves the best possible chance of a positive birth experience.

Join sessions to:

- Learn hypnotic techniques that will help you to build self-belief and stay in control throughout your labour
- Understand the anatomy of birth, and what to expect during each stage of labour
- Let go of any fears you have and to change any negative stories you have of birth
- Meet other expectant parents and enjoy friendly and relaxed sessions with a qualified hypnotherapist and easibirthing instructor
- Receive ongoing phone support as required in the lead-up to your due date

The course costs £165 and is taught over four sessions of approximately 2 hours. You also receive five hypnosis mp3s for your use at home, along with your course handbook.

WHAT IS HYPNOTHERAPY?
Hypnotherapy is a powerful, effective, and gentle tool that can help you to access your subconscious mind. Using hypnosis can help you to manage stress and anxiety, improve your confidence, deal with relationship issues, and far more.
Do you find yourself repeating the same behaviour, although you’ve promised yourself that next time you’ll do something else entirely? Perhaps you feel consumed by anxiety, stress, or fear in situations that you “should” be able to handle? If this is the case, you are in good company. After all, changing your behaviour without help can be difficult.

So, can hypnotherapy help you?
Hypnosis can help to access your subconscious mind. That powerful, creative, and just out-of-reach part which accounts for 95% of human behaviour. So, working with a certified hypnotherapist can be a gentle and effective way of overcoming the issues you are ready to leave behind. I provide a safe, confidential and welcoming space so that you can explore without fear of judgement.

WHAT DOES HYPNOTHERAPY FEEL LIKE?
During a hypnotherapy session, you will be guided into a state of deep focus. In this state, your subconscious mind is more freely accessible and ready to accept beneficial suggestions. Generally, people find hypnosis deeply relaxing, however being relaxed is not necessary for a successful session. Some people find a hypnotic state to be similar to meditation. However, it is generally much quicker to enter this state as you are guided by the hypnotherapist’s voice.

Making the decision to undertake therapy of any kind can bring up a number of emotions. For some people it’s scary, sometimes exciting, and often it can bring up a mixture of emotions. I appreciate that undertaking therapy can feel like a big step into the unknown. Keeping this in mind, it’s really important that, as well as finding a qualified therapist, you choose to work with somebody you feel comfortable with and trust.

She studied at the UK College of Hypnosis and Psychotherapy, and is currently working towards her psychotherapy accreditation, via the UKCP. Hypnotherapy is suitable for a huge range of issues, including phobias, quitting smoking, and pregnancy/childbirth. Anna works with adults from all walks of life, and has a special interest in stress and anxiety management.

We would like to extend a warm welcome to Hypnotherapist Anna Vehrmann.

Anna is a CNCH registered hypnotherapist and Easibirthing® hypnobirthing practitioner. She offers one-hour hypnotherapy sessions and both group and one-on-one hypnobirthing classes.

Anna studied at the UK College of Hypnosis and Psychotherapy, and is currently working towards her psychotherapy accreditation, via the UKCP. Hypnotherapy with Anna is a collaborative experience; clients tend to find appointments peaceful and relaxing, and a welcome pause from everyday life. Each session is a safe, friendly, and non-judgemental space. Drawing on additional psychotherapeutic training and integrating a range of modalities, Anna loves to see the lasting transformations that clients can make with a little expert assistance.

I was out for a walk on one of our weird, unseasonally sunny days recently and I came across a tree that was completely full of red admiral butterflies.

It made me think of a practice which is useful when you’re feeling stuck inside your own head or a bit down.

1) Go outside (even if just for two minutes).

2) Find a “thing” you can focus on (this can be anything, a fallen leaf, an insect, a pebble) and spend a moment or two really paying attention to it. If it’s a pebble, check out the tiny patch of mud on its surface, if it’s a blade of grass notice how it is a very slightly different shade of green to the other blades of grass around it. And that’s it. This practice can be really helpful when you are feeling anxious, or if you have racing thoughts.
