Home Safety: Falls Prevention

Falls are a common risk at home. A few simple checks can help reduce the likelihood of trips and slips:

• Keep floors and walkways clear of clutter and trailing cables
• Secure loose rugs and mats using non slip backing
• Improve lighting in hallways, stairs, and other frequently used areas

For practical advice and guidance, visit the NHS information on falls prevention:

Find out about falls, including what to do when you have a fall, what help is available and how to prevent falls.

Home care should feel safe, respectful, and predictable.

When support is done well, it protects independence. That means care that is built around the person, not a one-size checklist: routines, preferences, communication style, and what a “good day” looks like.

The basics we believe in:

Dignity and privacy, always

Clear consent and choice at every step

Safe support that reduces avoidable risk

Consistency and good communication

Respect for culture, faith, and personal preferences

If you’re supporting a family member, what would make the biggest difference right now: peace of mind, practical help, or a clear plan?

❄️ Winter Safety and Wellbeing Reminder ❄️
Cold weather can increase the risk of slips, falls, and illness, especially for older adults and anyone living with health conditions.

A simple 3-point check for today:
✅ Warmth: keep the main living space comfortably warm where possible
✅ Walkways: clear clutter and improve lighting on routes around the home
✅ Routine: eat and drink regularly and keep moving safely indoors

Our care teams support people to stay safe at home by helping maintain routines and reducing everyday risks, especially during cold spells.
