👄 Lip filler longevity varies from person to person.

👄 For many people, results last around 6–12 months, and some may notice a subtle effect for longer. Duration depends on the product selected, the amount placed, your natural lip shape, and individual metabolism of hyaluronic acid.

👄 If you are planning treatment around an event, I recommend allowing at least 4 weeks, and ideally 6–8 weeks if it is your first lip filler treatment.

I’ve had a lot of questions recently about oral “skin tanners” - tablets, drops or gummies that promise a glow from the inside out.

Most of these use either:
🟠 Colouring agents (often carotenoids) that build up in the skin and can tint it a yellow-orange tone.
⚠️ Hormone-type substances - often unlicensed products related to melanotan, which mimic a natural tanning hormone and tell your pigment cells to make more melanin.

The issue? None of these products are authorised by medicines regulators as safe or effective ways to tan, the dose and quality can be very unpredictable, and we don’t have good long-term safety data. There are also case reports of mole changes, eye and liver issues.

Your natural skin tone is healthy and normal. The best thing you can do for your skin is to protect it - daily SPF, avoiding unnecessary UV, and regular mole/skin checks. If you do want the look of a tan, bottled fake tan is the safer option, but it never replaces sunscreen.

By softening the action of this muscle, the resting position of the mouth appears more neutral or relaxed.

Isn’t it all a bit superficial?
That’s something I wondered when I first started in aesthetics.
But over time, my opinion has changed.
Most people don’t want to change how they look, they just want to feel like themselves on a good day, a bit more often.
My clients are amazing people and the conversations we have during treatment are often hilarious, energising or inspiring. Then they head back to their busy lives.
So maybe from the outside it does seem a bit superficial.
But up close even simple treatments feel surprisingly meaningful 🪞

It’s one of the most common questions but really the amount of lip filler is only a small part of the story.

Because it’s such a popular treatment, it’s often misunderstood. The truth is that the lips are a delicate area with complex anatomy and great results rely on far more than volume alone 💭 

Different techniques create very different outcomes. A small amount of filler, precisely placed, can completely transform the lips while larger amounts, placed deep, might barely be visible 👄
