This weekend (and today!) everyone at Byron House joined the rest of the UK and Commonwealth in remembering the brave service members who have sacrificed so much in wars and conflicts.
We had a lovely time getting creative with poppy crafts and a special reflection picture, watched the parade together on TV, and sang our hearts out with the amazing D-Day Dolly singers who came in to entertain us! 🎶🇬🇧
We also welcomed Hampden Hall Care Centre who joined us for the D-Day Dolby singers

Here at Byron House, we love keeping traditions alive that our residents hold dear.
We always provide opportunities for everyone to join in with seasonal events — if they wish to.
This year, we had lots of fun creating Bonfire Night–inspired table centrepieces, enjoying sparklers in the garden, and tucking into a delicious supper of hot dogs, hot chocolate with marshmallows

Last Friday, we celebrated Halloween and all things pumpkin! 🎃
Residents enjoyed creating pumpkin-inspired crafts to decorate their homes, followed by a delicious three-course Halloween-themed lunch and delightful afternoon cakes.

Last week, we contributed to raising awareness by educating individuals on recognizing symptoms and encouraging breast self-awareness in a fun and informative setting.

Highlights of the day included:

🐍🕷️ Animal Club Visits Byron House! 🦎🐹

This week, our residents had a wild afternoon when Animal Club stopped by with their weird and wonderful creatures, including Ghost the white snake, Maria the tarantula, a gecko, a colourful chameleon, and an adorable chinchilla!

The visit sparked so much excitement as residents learned fascinating facts about each animal and even had the chance to hold or gently stroke them. For many, it brought back fond memories of pets they once had, while others were simply amazed by how calm and friendly the animals were.

At Byron House, we know that spending time with animals can have an incredibly positive effect on our residents’ wellbeing. These visits help to reduce feelings of loneliness and isolation, offering a sense of comfort and companionship that only animals can provide. 🩵
