3rd year placement 1 - Coming to an end 🏥

This has certainly been my most challenging placement to date. From helping to treat a mix of very acutely unwell patients, to post surgical patients and amputees. A fair mix I have been exposed to over the last 6 weeks.

There are lots of things to reflect upon, learn from, and implement moving forward 📈

I am looking forward to getting back to university, and getting stuck back into work.

Full blood Health Check🩸

Full blood count done today by . Ive been wanting to do this for a long time now and I constantly put it on the back burner due to the closest service being in Glasgow. Now with there being this service in Ayr, South Ayrshire, I decided I would get it done.

Your health is your wealth, and is top of my priorities. So with having this service so close to me, I'll be getting yearly checks completed to make sure my markers are where they should be.

Some more CPD completed ✅ - Myofascial Dry Needling through 📚

This is something I've been curious about doing for some time, and this course has given me a little insight into the mechanisms of dry needling - mainly what it has the ability to do, and not to do.

A very well led course, with a no BS approach by .

I'll be incorporating this as part of the treatments I offer in the near future, once I sort out licenses and insurances 🪪. And possibly in the future, complete some more advanced workshops.

The start of a new placement - MSK (Musculoskeletal).

Almost at the end of the first week already, into a 6 week block. Monday to Thursday with Fridays being group project work.

This area I have a great interest in, starting from years ago when I first started my studies in the field of Sport Science.

Fast forward to now, working as a Sports Massage therapist and running my own business for almost three years now. I have learned LOTS being hands on, working with people, applying self directed learning, doing online CPD, and shadowing other clinicians in the field.

It may be a short placement, but I'm looking forward to learning as much as humanly possible within this 6 week block to help further add to my knowledge and always be constantly learning 📚

Well, that's a wrap after 6 weeks grafting away on the Elderly Rehab ward. I definitely have a lot of take aways from this experience and I have improved in many ways, and have also come away with a few things to improve on moving forward. I had the opportunity to work with a great and welcoming team, which made for a great experience. This has definitely helped me develop as a person and student. Alongside working closely with a few of the boys on my course, and the other students I saw at lunch made it a whole LOT easier when the going got tough..

It's been a wild few months, with a couple full on modules at the start followed by back to back exams.. gaining an "A" in each one, which I was ecstatic (yet slightly surprised 😂) about.

Now walking away with a decent placement grade to top off the year 🙏🏻. So I'm now going to enjoy a well deserved couple weeks off studies over the festive break, before firing into another 6 week placement starting 6th January.

I have been limiting myself on social media due to the absolute volume of stuff I've had to do, so business is still running as normal. Keep an eye on my stories for appointment announcements 📣

Exams finished ✅

It's been a jam packed week with two exams, online placement briefing, in person training and everything else in between.

I'm not going to lie, this week hasn't gone as well as I'd had hoped. Some parts of these exams caught me off guard, forgetting silly things that will have lost me some marks.

But I can only reflect back, for it to give me some insight on what to improve on moving forward. But, it's all part of the process.

No more exams for the rest of 2nd year. Next up is two back to back: 6 week placements. This being split up by a couple weeks off at Christmas. Then back into uni in February for: dissertation proposal and Neuro units. Then we're on the home run!

Revsion week! 📚

I've become pretty familiar with these skeletons😂 🦴 ..from anatomy to MSK.

Classes pretty much finished for the semester, knuckling down for some exam prep before x2 exams next week: MSK & Respiratory.

After this I'll be getting stuck into a 6 week stint in the Cumberland Infirmary, Carlisle 🏥 ..followed by another 6 week placement after the Christmas break.

It's mad to think I'm nearly half way through the entire program.. certainly flying in.
