๐ LOCAL LOWDOWN: Riverside Community Trust๐
Sometimes the most important work in a community happens quietly: a hot meal shared, a listening ear, or someone being helped back onto their feet.
Thatโs exactly what happens week in, week out at Riverside Community Trust, based at Riverside Church on John Street.
For many people in and around Wallacetown and North Ayr, the Trust provides practical help, support, and a sense of belonging, often when people need it most.
๐ณ Tuesday Breakfast Club
๐ค 9:30am โ 11am
A warm breakfast, a cup of tea, and a chance to sit down and chat.
The breakfast club is open to anyone who wants to come along for food and company. Itโs a relaxed and welcoming space where people can connect with others and access support if they need it.
๐ฒ Care & Share โ Wednesdays
๐ 2pm โ 3:30pm
The Care & Share drop-in is a lifeline for many people in Ayr.
Alongside a hot meal, people can access a range of services including housing advice, addiction support, advocacy services and more all in one place.
The project originally started in 2008 to support people experiencing homelessness and has grown into a key support network for vulnerable people across the area.

๐ The impact of the work
The scale of support provided over the years is remarkable:
โข Around 3,400 people attended the Breakfast Club and Care & Share meals in a single year
โข Over 1,300 people connected with vital services through the project
โข The programme has even received a COSLA Gold Award for innovation in tackling homelessness and supporting recovery.
Behind every one of those numbers is a person whose life has been made a little easier thanks to the work happening there.

๐ค A special thank you
A big shout-out goes to Mark and Alex, the peer support workers who are often out and about in the community.
They provide outreach support across Ayr and Wallacetown, helping people who might not normally engage with services and guiding them towards the help they need.
Their work, and the work of the wider team and volunteers, makes a real difference to the fabric of the local community.
๐ฌ Community matters
Projects like this show the strength of our community. They remind us that when people come together churches, charities, volunteers and local services: real change can happen.
If youโve ever visited Breakfast Club or Care & Share, feel free to share your experience in the comments.
And if you know someone who might benefit from popping along, theyโll always find a warm welcome waiting for them.
