🦵 Why is Ostenil Plus good for knee pain?

Osteoarthritis can thin out the knee’s natural joint fluid, making movement painful and stiff.

Ostenil Plus replaces that lost lubrication with hyaluronic acid helping your knee move more smoothly, absorb shock, and reduce pain.

✨ Less friction
✨ Better movement
✨ Non-steroid option
✨ Can support rehab & exercise

It’s not a cure, but for the right knee, at the right time, it can be a real game-changer.

📍Always combined with the right strengthening and movement plan for best results.

With over 10 years injection experience.

When I talked about Physio at Glasgow Caledonian University 👌.

🎓 Throwback to 2021… when I was let loose in front of physio students.

Delivered a lecture on the upper limb — shoulders that refuse to behave, elbows that complain, wrists that do their own thing, and why anatomy textbooks never show the real patients.

Teaching is a great reminder that if you can explain something clearly (and keep a room awake), you probably understand it properly.

Plus, it keeps my dad and old man jokes well-trained and my clinical reasoning sharp 😄💪.

4 years ago I had a malignant melanoma in my calf of all places.

All good now 🖖👍.

Malignant melanoma surgery can sound frightening, but early detection and the right treatment really do save lives 💙.

This reel shows part of the journey and why checking your skin and acting early is so important.

If something doesn’t look right, don’t ignore it. Get it checked.

It could make all the difference.

I started in my spare room with nothing but belief and a lot of hard work.

No shortcuts.

Just showing up every day.

Today, I own my own clinic.

Proud of the journey. Grateful for the support.

Proof that small beginnings matter.

Megan MacLellan had a stuck facet joint in her neck.

Have a listen.

She has no contraindications to the manipulation.

Her VBI test was negative.

( put this up a few years ago but it came up in my memories 🙌)

Most of my best clinical ideas don’t happen at a desk.

They happen while moving.

The brain isn’t a machine you switch on by staring harder at a screen.

It needs rhythm, space, and time to spot patterns.

That’s why walking, running and exercise work so well.

Not to escape the work.

But to think clearly enough to do it well.

As physios, we see this every day:

✔️ Bodies adapt between efforts.

✔️ Progress comes from the right load, not more load.

✔️ Clarity follows movement.

Sometimes the smartest thing you can do for recovery (or problem-solving) is move.

Happy New Year Everyone 🥳…

At this time of year, new fitness goals + sudden enthusiasm = a spike in injuries keeps me busy.

I see this every January in active adults, especially runners, gym-goers and people “getting back to it”.

Here’s how exercise load links to injury and how to avoid becoming a New Year statistic.

🏋️‍♀️🏋🏻‍♂️🤸🏻‍♀️💪

What “exercise load” actually means

It’s not just how hard you train.

it’s the combination of:

• Volume (distance, reps, time)
• Intensity (pace, weight, effort)
• Frequency (sessions per week)
• Recovery (sleep, rest days,
stress)

Injuries happen when load increases faster than your tissues can adapt.

🤕🤕🩼

The classic January injury pattern of “The New Me”.

Most common scenarios:
• 2–3 weeks of “feeling great”
• Training jumps 30–100%
• Minimal rest
• Old niggles ignored

Then suddenly:
• Achilles pain
• Knee pain (patella or IT band)
• Calf strains
• Shoulder pain
• Low back pain

👉 These are load-related injuries, not bad luck.

🤞🏻🍀

The Golden Rule: Progressive loading

A safe guideline:
Increase only ONE of the following at a time:
• Distance
• Weight
• Speed
• Sessions per week

And keep increases to roughly 5–10% per week.

Example:
• Running 5 km → 5.5 km (not 8 km)
• Gym 3 days → stay 3 days but increase load slightly

👨‍⚕️

Why “feeling fit” is misleading

Cardio fitness improves faster than:
• Tendons
• Ligaments
• Joint cartilage

So you feel capable… but tissues aren’t ready yet.

This mismatch is the number one cause of overuse injuries in January.

❤️‍🩹

Recovery is part of training (not optional)

You should be:
• Having 1–2 rest days/week
• Sleeping 7–8 hours
• Fuelling properly (under-eating increases injury risk)

If recovery ↓ but load ↑ → injury risk skyrockets.

🤝🤛🤟

Simple injury-prevention checklist

Before adding more training, ask:
• Do I have pain that lasts into the next day?
• Has my training jumped suddenly?
• Am I training hard on tired legs?
• Am I skipping warm-ups?

If yes → hold load steady for a week.

Smart New Year strategy (that actually works)

Instead of:

❌ “I’ll train 5–6 days a week”

Try:

✅ “I’ll train consistently 3–4 days a week until March”

Consistency beats intensity every time.

Now go and get them endorphins released…

Hope NOT to see you soon.

But if you’re needing some advice or treatment get in touch.

I’m here to help.

(My 25th year of being a Physio this year 🫶🏻so have some kinda idea of what’s going on 🖖)
