A little burst of spring landed in our reception today 💛🌼

A huge thank you to Peter Wilson & Sons Funeral Directors for surprising us with these beautiful bunches of fresh daffodils - they’ve really brightened everyone’s day.

We’ll be sharing them with patients in our In-Patient Unit, where we know they’ll bring plenty of smiles.

Pictured is Susie, our Lead Practitioner for the Community Nursing Team, who happened to be in just the right place at the right time to help us capture the moment!

As Mother’s Day approached, we knew this time could bring a mix of emotions for many in our community. Whether people were celebrating, remembering, or simply taking a quiet moment, we held you all in our thoughts.

Over the past weekend, we delivered fresh daffodils locally — a small symbol of hope, renewal, and cherished memories. It was our way of offering a little brightness and letting our community know we’re here for you.

Thank you to everyone who accepted a bouquet. It was a privilege to share these moments with you.

Registering a Death in Scotland: What You Need to Know

When someone close to you passes away, knowing what to do next can feel overwhelming. One of the first steps is contacting the local registrar to let them know that the person has died. We’re here to help you understand what happens next.

🕊 How it works in Scotland

A death must be registered within 8 days.

Once you’ve contacted the registrar, they will arrange an appointment with you — this is usually carried out over the phone.

The doctor will send the Medical Certificate of Cause of Death (MCCD) directly to the registrar, who will then guide you through the registration process during your appointment.

📄 What you’ll receive
After the registration is complete, the registrar will issue:

The Certificate of Registration of Death (Form 14), which allows the funeral to proceed. This is usually sent directly to the nominated Funeral Director.

Copies of the Death Certificate, which are sent to the family if requested.
