As Breast Cancer Awareness Month comes to a close, here’s an important reminder.

Most breast changes aren’t cancer - but knowing what to look out for and acting quickly can make all the difference.

👇 If you notice any of these symptoms, don’t ignore them.
Contact your GP or book an appointment with a diagnostic breast cancer clinic as soon as possible.

When breast cancer is found early, treatment is simpler, recovery is faster - and outcomes are far better.

Let’s keep the message going beyond October: check yourself regularly, attend your screenings, and encourage the women you care about to do the same. 💗

💙 October is Breast Cancer Awareness Month - and yes, men can get breast cancer too!

While often seen as a woman’s disease, around 350 men in the UK are diagnosed with breast cancer each year, most commonly over the age of 60.

Unfortunately, low awareness means many cases are caught late.
But here’s the good news: early detection saves lives.

If you’re a man (or woman) and notice a firm lump behind the ni**le, discharge, or skin changes, don’t ignore it – get checked.

Learn more about the symptoms, risk factors, and the power of early detection in our article 👉 https://www.check4cancer.com/blogs/advice-and-awareness/male-breast-cancer-know-the-facts-and-get-checked

Male breast cancer Usually thought of as a disease seen only in women, male breast cancer is a rare but real risk, most often occurring in men over 60. The disease occurs in a small amount of breast tissue behind men’s ni**les. There are about 350 men diagnosed each year in the UK compared to arou...

☔ ☔☔ This week, the sunshine may seem like a distant memory, but according to the Met Office, summer 2025 has officially become the warmest UK summer on record.

More heat meant more sun exposure, and with it, a higher risk to our skin.

Skin cancer is the most common form of cancer in the UK, with over 250,000 new cases of non-melanoma skin cancer diagnosed each year – more than all other cancers combined.

Don’t wait until next summer to think about your skin again. If you have a mole or skin change you’re unsure about, now is the time to take stock.

Because it's always better to know...

*September is Urology Awareness Month.* This year, the focus is on bladder leakage - a condition that affects millions. While leakage isn’t always a sign of prostate cancer, changes in urination patterns can be an important reason to check your prostate health.

Unlike many providers, Check4Cancer’s at-home prostate test goes beyond a basic PSA level by measuring free-to-total PSA values. This helps distinguish between benign conditions (like an enlarged prostate) and potential cancer, providing greater accuracy and reducing unnecessary anxiety. Plus, every abnormal result is followed up by a nurse, so you’re never left on your own.

Around 1 in 3 women in England don’t attend their cervical screening.

Why? Many say it's because of:
😟 Worries about discomfort
😔 Embarrassment
⏰ Not enough time to book an appointment

But there’s good news: nearly 3 in 4 women said they would use a self-testing kit at home if it were available on the NHS.

At-home HPV testing is simple and private. It could remove some of the biggest barriers women face, while supporting the NHS’s goal to eliminate cervical cancer by 2040.

At Check4Cancer, we’ve made high-quality at-home cervical screening easy:
✔️ No GP appointment required
✔️ Fast results, with expert advice if further steps are needed
✔️ Discreet and convenient, in the privacy of your own home

💜 Screening saves lives, and by making it easier and more accessible, more women will be protected.

Not all health tests are created equal.

In today’s fast-paced world, the rise of home testing kits has made health monitoring more accessible than ever. However, there’s a big difference between a ‘home test’ and a clinically validated screening test.

The British Journal of Medical and Health Research (The BMJ) has raised serious concerns about the growing availability of unregulated home testing kits. These kits, while convenient, can sometimes offer misleading results, lack clinical oversight, and risk causing unnecessary worry or false reassurance.

At Check4Cancer, we are not that kind of home testing provider. We understand the risks of poor testing and have spent over a decade building services that do things properly:

✔️ We've provided home cancer screening tests since 2014 – backed by trusted UK laboratories
✔️ Our labs are certified to ISO 15189, ISO 27001, and ISO 14001 standards
✔️ All our test kits are UKCA marked and clinically validated
✔️ We follow strict eligibility criteria and clinical governance protocols
✔️ Results are reviewed and, where necessary, delivered by experienced healthcare professionals – with clear support and onward referral when needed

We welcome today’s call for tighter regulation in this space. People deserve access to safe, clinically-led services they can trust – especially when it comes to something as serious as cancer.

If you're looking for early cancer detection you can trust, choose one that’s governed, guided, and grounded in evidence.

Because cancer checks should be delivered by cancer experts.

Shop-bought health kits for a wide range of conditions are readily available across the UK.
