Association of British Riding Schools approved riding centre
We are ABRS (Association of British Riding Schools) approved, which gives you the peace of mind that we are not only fully licenced, but also offer the highest standards of instruction, and that our ponies receive an extremely high level of care.
About the ABRS+
Making a difference to riders and schools
Since 1954, The Association of British Riding Schools, Livery Yards and Equestrian Centres (ABRS+) has been inspiring, building knowledge and maintaining high standards across the industry. ABRS+ is a registered charity and the UK’s only organisation that focuses solely on supporting, representing and promoting professional proprietors of equestrian premises.
The ABRS+ is a National Governing Body, a member body of the British Equestrian Federation, and a member of both the Sport and Recreation Alliance and Sport Scotland.
Why choose an ABRS+ approved riding centre?
By law, all riding establishments must be licensed to operate their business under the Riding Establishments Act 1964. The license is granted by local authorities. In addition to this council licensing, the ABRS+ conducts its own approval scheme, setting a high standard for the care of horses and requiring confidence that the instruction given is well presented and correct. If you choose a riding centre that is a member of the ABRS, you can be satisfied that you are receiving the highest standards of teaching, that your health and safety are a priority, and that the horses and ponies at the yard are given the best possible care.
ABRS+ Rosette Awards
A fun way to learn more about ponies and horses
The ABRS+ Rosette Awards scheme is a programme of stable management and riding education, taught in a fun and enjoyable way with a rosette and certificate for each award passed. The syllabus is made up of 18 stable management and 14 ridden rosettes covering areas such as mucking out, washing tails, pony health, feeding and tack cleaning, poisonous plants and tacking up alongside ridden challenges such as rising trot, change of rein, trotting diagonals, trotting poles, canter aids and position and jumping - plus many, many more.
At sunny view equestrian we guide children through the courses at their own pace, combining the syllabus with our Pony Days which can be taken as either a half or full day where children can learn at their leisure whilst building confidence and friendships that will last a lifetime.
Keep an eye on our events page for times and dates of our next Rosette Awards day.
