🪷 The Strainer and the Mind A Lesson for Inner Growth
“Teacher, I’ve read so many books, but I’ve forgotten most of them. So what’s the point of reading?”
The teacher didn’t answer. He simply looked at him in silence.
A few days later, as they sat beside a quiet river, the teacher said,
“I’m thirsty. Bring me some water… but use that old strainer lying there on the ground.”
The student looked puzzled. How could anyone bring water in a strainer full of holes?
Still, he tried.
Once. Twice. Again and again.
He ran faster, adjusted his grip, tried to cover the gaps with his fingers… but the water slipped through every time.
Finally, exhausted and frustrated, he said,
“I’m sorry. I failed. It’s impossible.”
The teacher smiled gently and replied,
“You didn’t fail. Look at the strainer.”
The student looked down and saw that the old, dirty strainer was now clean.
The water, though it never stayed, had washed it over and over until it gleamed.
Then the teacher said,
“That’s what reading does. It doesn’t matter if you forget most of what you read.
While you read, your mind is refreshed, your spirit renewed, and your thoughts are cleansed.”

In therapy, the same truth applies.
You may not remember every word spoken in a session or every technique you’ve learned.
But the process itself the reflection, the conversation, the gentle uncovering is what brings healing.
Every moment you spend working on yourself cleanses the mind, releases tension, and clears away what no longer serves you.
Even when you don’t notice it right away, you are being transformed from within.
✨ Therapy isn’t about holding onto every insight.
It’s about allowing the process to wash through you
Leaving you lighter, clearer, and ready to grow.
