I absolutely LOVED the flowers for our wedding! We kept it local with the fabulous Susanna from One small seed who grows all her own flowers at her home about 2 miles from where we live. Susanna is amazing! Before the wedding we had a chat and I sent her photos of the wedding party colours, a picture of a bouquet I liked from Pinterest and told her the theme was boho vintage. She took it all and ran with it, creating stunning arrangements that I was so happy with. Even better she gave me vases so that I could use the two bouquets as centre pieces on the table afterwards. Check her out, I would highly recommend

What's in a name? I've been thinking a lot about that recently. I've decided not to change my surname now I'm married. Something my younger self would never have imagined. Sadly my first marriage wasn't a happy one...long story short... I lost myself. One of the first things I did when we separated was to change my name by deed poll back to Crawford. It felt like my first step to becoming me again. Now I am lucky enough to have found a man I can completely be myself with, who loves me for who I am and who I can fully trust. Jason knows my story and how important my surname is to me which I'm really grateful for. Just a reminder to do what feels right for you 👍

Doing our wedding our way. Not going to lie, it was hard work setting everything up and we were shattered after it all but I honestly wouldn't have changed a thing. I got to spend time with some of the people who mean the most to me. All the preparation mum and I did beforehand, Pinterest ahoy! My brother Colin giving up his time and large truck to help us out and last but no means least my absolute bestie and all round wonderful human who truth be told, invited herself along but I am so glad she did! I'm honestly not sure I would have coped without her ( I made her earn her keep though! She was also my hairdresser, ceremony DJ, games master and general dogsbody!) We were pretty pleased with the results! What do you think?

The BEST day. With the help of amazing family and friends we turned an Airbnb in Donaghadee into our wedding venue. Exhausted today but totally worth it. Had to share this beautiful preview shot from the fabulous
I will do a proper post when I can keep my eyes open but have to mention my good friend, the amazing who conducted a beautiful ceremony and for the gorgeous flowers.

I am always genuinely grateful to get reviews and feedback about the service I provide. I can't begin to tell you what this one I got today means to me. It helps me to see that I am achieving what I set out to do as a celebrant - to be compassionate, kind and most imporantly authentic. Families can be complex, and as a celebrant I think it is really important to get the balance right between honouring the deceased and being true to the people around them. For some, that story can be more difficult than others. People will mean different things to different people and it is about acknowledging and accepting that in a respectful way to everyone. It's not always easy and I'm always working at improving my writing and approach to ceremonies but I think it is important to acknowledge when I get it right for the family.

Gorgeous Cricket the dog was all set to be the ring bearer but when it came to the time of her big moment there were no rings!! Luckily the rings were located and it all went pretty smoothly from then on for the fabulous Jay and Lizzy. Such a fun and relaxed ceremony with this gorgeous couple. Their wedding, their way. Thanks for letting me be part of it .sharpe

How lovely are these photos by of wonderful flowergirl Alessa. Look at that wee face and the guests smiles! Alessa was reading a poem her grannny had written for her about the bride and groom aka her mum and her now stepdad, Sam. It takes a lot of courage to stand up and read in front of so many people, and Alessa absolutely nailed it. A really special family moment at the stunning in July this year. you are no doubt a very proud mummy and rightly so (and btw you look AMAZING!)

Just THE best day at Heather and John's wedding at the wonderful . I knew from way back and it was lovely to get to know her and her now hubby. Their wedding was as it should be - it reflected who they are and what is important to them. I got to meet the talented and in typical Norn Irish style we worked out a common connection within about 5 minutes of chatting! I genuinely loved writing and conducting this ceremony. In the presentation copy I give my couples, I like to include a quote from one of the songs they had and this was perfect for these two - Johnny Cash Rose of my heart: "So hard times or easy times, what do I care. There's nothing I'd change if I could. The tears and the laughter are things that we share. Your hand in mine makes all times good." I'm not crying, you're crying. I've added this to my own wedding playlist for next month!!

My dad forgets that I am getting married and he won't remember being there on the day, but to me it is so important that he comes:
💜For the moments of joy and happiness that there will be, that I know he will feel even if it is fleeting.
💜For the memories it creates for us.
💜For him to enjoy listening to music he loves.
💜For the hugs and tears we will share together.
Sending love to all affected by dementia.

That statistic makes me almost as happy as when I am marrying a couple as this fabulous photo from wonderfully demonstrates! For those who want a personal, unique and meaningful ceremony a humanist ceremony is a great choice (but then I would say that wouldn't I?!) Deciding on the place, the music, the readings, the vows - a wedding to reflect who you are and how you want to mark this momentous event. Your wedding, your way. If that sounds like your kinda thing, get in touch! 🥰

This weekend Jason and I have been completing our wedding questionnaire sent by the lovely who is marrying us in October. It's been a bit surreal doing this when it is normally me getting the answers from my couples! Here are my tips!
⭐You can answer the questions separately or together. We did ours together which I really enjoyed. It covers things you wouldn't normally sit and discuss as a couple and it's lovely to hear what your other half thinks of you.
⭐Make time for it. We sat the kids in front of a movie and took ourselves off somewhere relatively quiet.
⭐Take your time - we did this over two nights. Answering most of the questions on the first night, taking a day to think about it and then finishing it off the next night.
⭐Say as much as you can. The more you tell the celebrant, the more they have to write about.
⭐Like me, Emily follows up the questionnaire with a face to face get together which is another opportunity to talk about the ceremony and what you would like to include.
⭐Enjoy it!
And any other celebrant followers, I would really recommend getting a fellow colleagues questionnaire and filling it out. It is a great learning experience and gives you a feel for how it is for the couple.

Next job...vows 😬 I think we will leave that for another day!
