Transitions are one of the hardest parts of toddlerhood.
Not because they’re “naughty.”

Not because you’re doing it wrong.

But because shifting from one thing to another requires:
flexibility, impulse control, emotional regulation
…and toddlers are still building all three.

At 14 months they’re confused.
At 20 months they’re frustrated.
At 2 they want control

You’re not raising a “difficult” child.
You’re raising a developing brain.

Breath work for toddlers isn’t about control.
It’s about co-regulation.
When breathing is playful and modelled with them, it can gently reduce anxiety and support emotional regulation — without pressure.
Save this for the next big feelings moment 🤍

It would only be right as an art psychotherapist that I start with Art.
Art supports regulation and development , especially when using it with no limits, big arm movements, doing large scale imagines if you can.

Large, whole-arm movements activate the proprioceptive system, supporting body awareness, emotional regulation, and attention.

Open-ended art also strengthens imagination, problem-solving, and flexible thinking. There’s no “right outcome,” so children can express feelings safely while building motor and cognitive skills.

Drawing alongside your little one can create co-regulation, if you don't enjoy drawing colouring in alongside your little one can have the same effect.

Just remember art has no rules
