I am going light on details here on this one😊😊

But this little message just says it all for me.

There are so many reasons to get into some kind of exercise routine.. whether it's weightloss, weight gain, muscle or bone health, mental health or anything else..

Some resistance training can massively help along whatever particular journey you are onπŸ’ͺ😊

Eric came to me asking if I would take a look at his shoulder.. starting to think it couldn't be helped after months of pain.

But.. 3 massages in.. he arrived back into the gym.. swinging his arm in full circles.. repeating "omg I can't believe it, the pain is gone.. all of it, how does that happen"

And messaged me twice since.. saying "I just can't believe it"πŸ˜‚πŸ˜‚

And he said he would write me a wee piece I can share lol so this post is what he had to say...!!

How is your Posture??

Did you know...

Weight Training can be great at helping correct postural issues, some of which can include pain.

With correct form movements, and strengthen of certain muscles and some massage to help loosen others.. can be a great effective long term benefit to anyone with issues.

All prime movement muscles have secondary movement muscles.. and this matters a lot when taking into account postural issues.

Exercise form and techniques is key with all progression.

How you breathe, what grip to use to get the most out of the movement, what Posture should you be in.

Just little things that totally change the movement and muscle engagement. All my clients will be familiar with this...

Just little reminders as they train

Pick that chest up
Get those shoulders back
Pull those toes in

They might sound silly out of context, but form is key.

Especially while increasing strength.

And overall enjoyment in your sessions and learning to enjoy training and the confidence it brings is a priority.

If you learn to enjoy something and build confidence in it, you will keep doing it.

I spotted this while this lady was training away doing her leg extensions... so I went over and asked..

Have you any pain in this shoulder? Or have you ever injured it? She said yes... she had a previous injury in this shoulder.. and she would like to get her Posture sorted. I introduced a couple of new movements to her.. and she said she couldn't believe it. She has never felt those muscles working.. and over time, those movements will help, along with some progression along the wayπŸ˜ŠπŸ™Œ

And it's evident to see when you see these imbalances, the tensions, the Posture etc.

And the good news is, you can do plenty to rehabilitate, to gain range of motion, to lower or even get rid of pain, and correct Posture.

Movement and Massage both have its place in this.

Just keep going.. tick the boxesπŸ’ͺ

Using strength as a measure while losing overall weight..

So, 10lb down 4 weeks in, and continuing to gain strength.. for me personally is perfect case scenario..

Why? You might ask..

Because I have worked hard to gain strength muscle wise.. if I am losing overall body weight too quickly I am going to lose some strength.. so I try to keep my strength as high as possible while I am aiming to drop weight.. if I become weaker in my main lifts.. I will then choose to slow the weight loss down a bit.

And keeping my heart rate high, and strength high also keeps my metabolism working (along with the food obviously)

And believe me.. I do not starve πŸ˜‚πŸ˜‚ 16oz steak, chips, onion rings, garlic bread and peppered sauce for dinner this evening lol

And until I need to make changes if I begin to stall... I just keep the ball rollingπŸ’ͺπŸ’ͺπŸ’ͺπŸ”₯

Choose a health promoting way of living this

Moving forward.. from today, do one thing each day that makes a positive step forward.. build it as a habitual way of living.. and keep it going.. no matter what is going on in the world around you.. Work on your health.

There are sooooo many avenues to exploreπŸ’ͺπŸ’ͺ

Start the conversation and see where it brings you... there is nothing to lose... and there is everything to gain😊πŸ’ͺ

A simple question that is usually met initially with a witty response... and then a more thoughtful response...

Some will say

"could you help win the lotto"
"Could you help me with less stress"
"Could you find me a new job"

All with a little bit of laughter.. and rightly so, we shouldn't take all too seriously lol

Life is for the living.. enjoy it 😊πŸ’ͺ

But then.. after a wee giggle..

Some will follow up with:

"If I could just get a good sleep"
"If I could just get rid of this pain"
"If I could just feel less anxious"

And then I'll ask some questions... and offer some ways in which it might help for the long term...

And that might not be just what you think.. yes the gym can and will affect those statements and much more..

But sometimes the simple things help.. even the talking about it, just a walk, early nights, better food, water, less caffiene, getting time to wind down..

Obviously I am a massive fan of gym training.. it offers a lot for that hour in the gym..

It gives you an hour out of your daily life, it gives you connection chatting to others, it gives you a way to burn off some pent up energy, it gives your mind and body a workout and helps hormone balance which will directly impact sleep, it gives your body strength and balance...

The gym is not all about looking good.. its about your over all long term health and sense of wellbeing..

The gym is a giver of health... or any exercise for that matter!!!

And yet is the most under utilised thing we can do throughout society..

All ages and all abilities should be exercising and training.. to the degree of which you can is personal to you... but everyone should do something..
