Honest physio advice:
1. Passive treatments are not long term solutions
Evidence shows manual therapy such as massage, needling, electrotherapy etc can help things feel better in the short term but don’t provide lasting change. The work you do outside of the clinic on prescribed exercises and applying education is where the long term change happens. 📈🏋️
2. You don’t need endless appointments
A physios job is to guide you back to your goals through education, advice and clear planning so you can manage your issue confidently and independently, not create dependency on themselves with regular appointments and passive treatment. 🗓️❌
3. Physio is not the solution for everything
Some things need more than physiotherapy input and respond better to more medical / surgical intervention. An honest physio will recognise when this is the case and support you to the next step of your care, not claim they can fix anything and anyone. 🩻🏥
4. There are many factors to consider
Pain is complex. It is rarely related to one single factor or muscle. Lifestyle, sleep quality, stress, emotions and beliefs are only a few examples of factors that impact pain. Trust the physio whose input reflects the big picture, not the one who promises an oversimplified quick fix. 🤕🤒
5. Pain free isn’t always the end goal
100% pain free isn’t achievable for everyone, an honest physio will recognise when that may be the case and support you with realistic goals such as improving strength and mobility. An honest physio will not treat you endlessly with passive treatment promising it will make you pain free. 💪🏻🎯
