⚡️ So why as a podiatrist do I not like some corn plasters? ⚡️

Some corn plasters, on the market, contain an acid. Once applied to the skin they can cause chemical burns.

🔥 The plaster itself is usually bigger than the actual corn and as a result often causes damage to the surrounding tissue.

🔥 Damage can be in the form of a chemical burn (where the surrounding skin is red with a whitish thread).

🔥 Damage can cause infections.

🔥 Damage can cause ulceration (as has happened in this case).

⚡️ This is a throw back image of my poor Mum.. Mum was fit and healthy and didn’t want to bother me over a wee corn.

⚡️ It took around 4 months for Mum to recover fully with multiple appointments.

💭 Take home- sometimes it’s actually cheaper in the long run to see a podiatrist.

Normally we are the 1st of December kinda team but we collectively decided a little bit of early Christmas cheer would do no harm 🌟
