Guaranteed NMC OSCE pass? ❎ I can't promise this and neither can anyone else - please let me tell you why.

As an experienced nurse educator specialising in NMC registration and OSCE preparation I get asked a lot: "𝘊𝘢𝘯 𝘺𝘰𝘶 𝘨𝘶𝘢𝘳𝘢𝘯𝘵𝘦𝘦 𝘢𝘯 𝘖𝘚𝘊𝘌 𝘱𝘢𝘴𝘴?"

I have observed other training providers advertising guaranteed OSCE passes and have been asked by organisations to guarantee a pass for referred candidates, so it's fair to address this point transparently.

My honest answer to this question will always be:

"𝘐'𝘭𝘭 𝘴𝘶𝘱𝘱𝘰𝘳𝘵 𝘦𝘢𝘤𝘩 𝘯𝘶𝘳𝘴𝘦 𝘵𝘰 𝘵𝘩𝘦 𝘷𝘦𝘳𝘺 𝘣𝘦𝘴𝘵 𝘰𝘧 𝘮𝘺 𝘢𝘣𝘪𝘭𝘪𝘵𝘺 𝘸𝘪𝘵𝘩 𝘦𝘹𝘱𝘦𝘳𝘵𝘪𝘴𝘦, 𝘤𝘰𝘮𝘱𝘢𝘴𝘴𝘪𝘰𝘯 𝘢𝘯𝘥 𝘱𝘳𝘰𝘷𝘦𝘯 𝘮𝘦𝘵𝘩𝘰𝘥𝘴 𝘣𝘶𝘵 𝘐 𝘤𝘢𝘯𝘯𝘰𝘵 𝘨𝘶𝘢𝘳𝘢𝘯𝘵𝘦𝘦 𝘢 𝘱𝘢𝘴𝘴."

Why? Because OSCE success depends on factors the candidate controls: existing knowledge, work ethic, diligence, practice, and life commitments plus much more.

Learner assessment and discussion.

I complete a consultation call with each nurse before booking to ensure I can provide the right support for their needs. If a nurse isn't yet "OSCE ready", then I will advise accordingly, at no cost to them.

Factors determined by NMC.

NMC test of competence (part 2 OSCE) is impartially and externally examined by NMC registered nurse examiners and standardised across 5 NMC CTCs (4 from Feb 2026).

Amongst other aspects, candidates must demonstrate safe practice and clear, compassionate communication to succeed on the day.

❎️ Between July - Sept 2025 20% of OSCE candidates 𝘥𝘪𝘥𝘯'𝘵 pass after 3 attempts. This is the reality.

See NMC OSCE pass rates here:

What I can control and guarantee (and take extremely seriously):

✅ High-quality teaching & ongoing professional development

✅ Honest initial assessments & ongoing, individualised support

✅ Excellent learning environment & wellbeing focus

✅ Clear communication, sensitive feedback & quality resources

✅ Deep understanding of OSCE exam conditions, demonstrated learner success and consistently positive feedback

✅ My commitment to ethical practice and NMC code of conduct as an experienced UK-based registered nurse educator.

Despite 100% adult OSCE learner pass rates, consistently high first-time pass rates and 6 years of specialised experience, I will never offer pass rate guarantees because this is something out of my control as an educator.

Plus...the achievement always comes from and belongs to each OSCE candidate - the learner who puts in the hard work.

Due diligence matters - ask questions, as many as you need. Choose wisely, then show up, engage, practice and revise.

⬆️That's what gets you on (or back on) the UK NMC register - your preparation, diligence and commitment to learning or re-learning.

Very best wishes for your OSCE!

~Olivia

Looking for an OSCE training provider? Take time to seek out the right OSCE teaching support which suits YOU 🤝

As a UK RN and educator, I work with nurses from initial consultation right through to OSCE pass.

From advice about planning OSCE dates, to mentorship, teaching and pastoral support - every piece of advice or teaching session is delivered from a place of extensive experience and deep understanding.

This support is usually a minimum of 2-3 months but can be up to 6 months for some nurses (individual circumstances dictate).

Learner centred approach - I primarily work with nurses on a one to one/individual basis in small numbers each month to allow for individual support.

For this reason, I advise planning ahead if individual OSCE preparation support would suit your needs better versus large group or intensive style OSCE training.

My current availability:

• Ready now? 1 space left for January one to one adult online adult OSCE teaching support.
• Taking bookings and compiling a waiting list for 𝐅𝐞𝐛𝐫𝐮𝐚𝐫𝐲 & 𝐌𝐚𝐫𝐜𝐡 𝐨𝐧𝐞 𝐭𝐨 𝐨𝐧𝐞 𝐚𝐝𝐮𝐥𝐭 𝐎𝐒𝐂𝐄 𝐭𝐞𝐚𝐜𝐡𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐬𝐮𝐩𝐩𝐨𝐫𝐭 (online or face to face - anywhere in Northern Ireland).
