Royal recognition for Radcliffe! 👏

Massive congratulations to former Team GB Olympian, three-time London Marathon winner and former marathon world record holder Paula Radcliffe, who has been awarded an OBE in the 2026 King’s New Year Honours list for services to sport.

A winner in London in 2002 and 2005 but it was her 2003 performance that shook the running world, when she stormed to a game-changing world record time of 2:15:25, becoming the first woman to run under 2:16:00. That record stood for 16 years and no woman yet has ran faster our course since that record was set 22 years ago. ⚡️ 🤯

Following her elite career, Radcliffe has been an influential broadcaster and great ambassador for running, helping promote the sport to global audiences and championing the next generation of athletics superstars. 🙌

A British running icon and an athletics legend. 🇬🇧

On 03 July, 2025, 🇨🇿 Klára Kolouchová breathed her last on Nanga Parbat.

Not on the summit. But on her way down above Camp II after turning back.

She wasn’t chasing fame. She was chasing a deeper purpose: to climb with soul, with strength, and with something fierce and unshakably Czech.

🗻 First Czech woman on Everest (2007).
🗻 First Czech woman on K2, Kanchenjunga, and Annapurna I.
🗻 A mother. A mentor. A voice for girls who dare.

She started not in the Alps, but in the halls of corporate London. Running city streets by night, training for 8,000 meters by will alone. No glory. No big sponsors. Just grit, vision, and a passport stamped with “Czech Republic.”

She told stories, not just summits. Two books. TEDx talks. Metaphors that turned icefalls into life lessons. Mountains, she said, are mirrors—and she climbed them to face what most would flee.

In 2019, she stood on both Kanchenjunga and K2. In 2024, Annapurna I. Five 8000ers, among them four as the first by a Czech woman. Nanga Parbat was to be her sixth. Her path toward all 14.

She didn’t get there.

But Klára Kolouchová didn’t need 14 to prove a point. She’d already proven what mattered.

That courage has a voice. That motherhood and mountaineering aren’t opposites. That legacy isn’t measured in meters, but in meaning.

The NHS physiotherapy pathway is flawed from professional university syllabus onwards. It’s antiquated and is failing patients. An updated integrated and comprehensive multidisciplinary approach will work better. Exercise prescription and hands on treatment is the way forward. Evidence based practice is flawed.
