Today is World Cancer Day 🌍

Cancer is not just a diagnosis.

It is fear, strength, uncertainty, hope, and courage — all at once. It is families holding each other closer. It is carers, nurses, and loved ones standing beside someone on their hardest days.

Every cancer journey is deeply personal. Behind every diagnosis is a unique story of resilience, love, pain, and bravery, which is why this year’s global message focuses on being United by Unique — recognising that while every experience is different, nobody should face cancer alone.

At Visiting Angels, we are privileged to support individuals and families through some of life’s most challenging moments. Today, we stand with:

Yesterday, we celebrated the life and poetry of Scotland’s beloved Robert Burns! At Visiting Angels Barnet & Enfield, we love taking a moment to honour tradition, enjoy a wee dram, and share some warmth with our wonderful clients.

💙 Sometimes Angels need a bit of help too 💙

Today is often referred to as Blue Monday — a reminder that winter can feel long, heavy, and emotionally exhausting for so many people. For some, it’s a passing low mood. For others, it’s a deep sense of loneliness, worry, or overwhelm that’s been building quietly for weeks.

At Visiting Angels Barnet & Enfield, we see this every day — not just in the people we care for, but in their families and even in our incredible caregivers. Caring is an act of love, but love doesn’t make you immune to feeling tired, anxious, or low. And that’s okay.

If you’re supporting an elderly parent, a loved one living alone, or someone whose world has become smaller, please know this: you are not failing if you need support. Asking for help is not a weakness — it’s one of the bravest and kindest things you can do, for them and for yourself.

Through the Angel Care Wellbeing Foundation, support is available for mental health and emotional wellbeing — because carers, families, and older adults deserve to be cared for too. No one should feel they have to carry everything on their own.
