Our Story at Barnet
After having worked for more than 33 years in the banking industry, Angie decided to seek early retirement from full-time employment to explore her desire to start a care business. Angie’s passion for the sector began when her mother was sadly diagnosed with cancer, and her grandfather suffered a stroke. Going through those challenging times helped Angie to appreciate the difference between good quality care at home can have on an individual. Angie followed her passion and migrated to the UK in 2017 and joined her daughter, Shir-li, who was working at the time in the care sector. Shir-li studied physiotherapy at Sheffield Hallam University after which she joined Home Care Preferred in Winchmore Hill. During her 3 years with the company, she held various posts including team leader, care coordinator and in-house trainer. In 2018 Shir-li progressed to opening her own Home Care Preferred branch in Barnet. Angie’s husband Qua also joins them in this venture. Qua has a background in finance and marketing and shares his family’s commitment to providing a compassionate, high-quality service. Angie, Shir-li and Qua believe that care should be delivered as one would want it delivered to their own loved ones, that a business should be the centre of the community, and that a service should provide access to other aspects of care and support under one roof (a one-stop-shop for care). This vision led them to become a part of the Home Care Preferred family.
