Phytoestrogens & Menopause

It is understood that phyto-oestrogens may act selectively on oestrogen receptors and some studies have shown they appear to offer some protection against oestrogen-receptive cancers (such as breast and endometrium and prostate cancer).

Foods containing phytoestrogens:
Flaxseeds
Berries
Oats
Soybeans
Sesame seeds
Mung beans
Fennel
Aniseed
Cauliflower
Carrots
Chickpeas
Lentils
Yams
Apples
Pomegranates

‘As a direct result of research into soya isoflavones, and the reputation of soya in reducing the incidence of breast cancer and menopausal symptoms in women from countries with a very high soya-based diet (such as Japan), a new oestrogen receptor site (ER2) was discovered and this has transformed our understanding of menopause’.

Ways to reduce chronic inflammation developing is to keep acute inflammation at bay.

Changes to lifestyle and diet especially, will support this; considering exposure to chemicals, how you treat your body with infections/colds/flus and how you manage physical and emotional stress.
Did you know the way you cook your food can increase inflammation within the body?
