Say their name. 🦋

There is a common misconception that mentioning the name of someone who has died is upsetting, that it will remind loved ones of their loss. But as Carys, our Bereavement Support Manager, explains, she has found the opposite to be true.

"Families want to hear their loved one’s name said aloud. It demonstrates clearly that they are being forever remembered. It provides an opportunity for memories, stories, and love to be shared.”

It is one of the simplest, yet most powerful ways we can show that they are not forgotten.

This year, as part of A Star to Remember (our virtual tribute wall), you can write the name of the person you’re remembering on a virtual star, share a message or photo, and help their memory shine brightly.

The Winter Ball 2025 ❄️🤍

The Dorchester was filled with warmth and generosity as friends and supporters of Noah’s Ark gathered for this year’s Winter Ball. It was a night that truly celebrated our community and the difference we can make together.

Thanks to the dedication of The Winter Ball Committee and the generosity of everyone who attended, we raised over ÂŁ520,000 on the night - a gift that will directly support babies, children, and young people who are seriously unwell.

A special thank you to our host and auctioneer for the evening, Bradley Walsh, and our outstanding performers: Alexandra Burke, Mixed Feelings., The Barricade Boys, and G&S Performing Arts.

We feel so fortunate to have been part of such a special evening and are already looking forward to 2026.

Meet our Heartbeat Bears 🧸🤍

This National Grief Awareness Week, we want to highlight one of the ways Noah’s Ark supports families. For parents receiving a life-threatening diagnosis during pregnancy, grief can begin long before their baby’s arrival.

At Noah’s Ark, we help families create lasting memories they can hold onto. One special way we do this is through memory-making keepsakes, including our Heartbeat Bears, a meaningful initiative introduced by our Hospice Midwife, Jen.

Using a Doppler device, Jen records a baby’s heartbeat and places it inside a soft, cuddly bear. It’s a keepsake families can treasure forever: a way to honour their baby’s memory, hold them close, and carry their heartbeat with them always.

A festive afternoon of fun at World Of David Walliams Afternoon Tea at The Dorchester!🎄🌟

Thanks to our wonderful partner, The Dorchester, a family from Noah’s Ark enjoyed a magical reading of David Walliams' book, 'Santa & Son,' accompanied by delicious treats.

The excitement didn't end there! They also had the opportunity to meet David, chat with him, and take home signed copies of the book.

A huge thank you to The Dorchester and David Walliams for creating such a magical and memorable day.

Meet Mimi ❤️

Mireya, lovingly known as Mimi, and her family have been supported by Noah’s Ark since 2018.

Full of personality, Mimi enjoys everything from role-playing with her sister to singing songs from Frozen. Her mum, Selina, says:

“She’s always loved singing, but ever since the tracheostomy came out, she hasn’t stopped.”

For the family, Noah’s Ark has been a vital support network. Their Family Link Worker, Maria, along with Specialist Carer, Michelle, and Play Specialist, Vikki, have supported them every step of the way - especially while Selina was studying to become a nurse.

With everything going so well for Mimi, the family will soon be closing to Noah’s Ark. It’s a bittersweet moment, but as Selina reflects:

"It's been a long journey; all we know is Noah's Ark. It will feel weird, but there are other children that need them now."

Mosaics and Music. 🎨🎶

At Noah’s Ark, we’re always exploring new ways to support our team’s wellbeing - and sometimes the best ideas come directly from our team.

Art Therapist, Eleanor and Music Therapist, Allya, came together to create a special event designed to help the team pause, relax, and tap into their creativity. Inspired by Eleanor’s work with bereaved parent groups, each staff member was invited to slow down and craft their own mosaic while listening to a playlist of their favourite songs.

The event was a huge success, resulting in stunning mosaics and a wonderfully relaxing afternoon. We can’t wait to host more experiences like this in the future.

Every gift matters. Every gift makes a difference.

As the season of giving approaches, we need your support more than ever.

Only 19% of our funding comes from the government, which means we rely on voluntary donations to continue providing this vital care.

Whether it’s a hot meal, an hour of music therapy, or 24 hours of respite care; every donation helps children and families make the most of every day.

You can now explore exactly where our funding comes from, how it’s spent, and the life-changing care your support can provide.

Memory Making with 3D Life Casting 🫶

Play Team members Vikki and Anna led our recent training with the Care Team, showing them how to create special keepsakes.

Life casting is the process of making a three-dimensional replica of a person’s hands or feet using a safe moulding material. It’s a beautiful way to freeze a moment in time, capturing the unique size, shape, and tiny details that make someone special. These keepsakes become treasured reminders for families, allowing them to hold onto memories they share in a tangible way.

With this training, our teams are able to bring even more meaningful, memory-filled keepsakes to the families we support.

This Children’s Grief Awareness Week, we’re highlighting the power of books to support children through grief. ❤️

“Over time, a book can become a trusted friend, a source of comfort, and a safe confidant.”

Books have a unique ability to help children navigate difficult emotions like grief and loss. When a child experiences bereavement, age-appropriate stories can provide reassurance, understanding, and a gentle way to explore complex feelings.

To support parents and caregivers, Lesley from our Bereavement Support Team has curated a list of 4 children’s books that help young readers understand death and the grieving process. These stories offer a safe space for children to process their emotions and begin to make sense of their sadness.

Discover the full list of recommended books here:
🦋Muddles Puddles and Sunshine- Diana Crossley
🦋The Invisible String - Patrice Karst
🦋The Hare Shaped Hole - John Dougherty
🦋Sad - Michael Rosen
