Water Royd Christmas party day 2025 πŸŽ…

What a fantastic Christmas and New Year we've had at Water Royd over the last few weeks. Party day is always madness, but that's how we like it, each year it seems to get busier with family and friends coming along to join in, which we love to see.

Special thank you to David who once again took time out to come along and be the best Santa for all the people living at Water Royd, their family/friends and their children, it's always a pleasure David, we do appreciate you, thank you.

We couldn't have the best Christmas party day without our wonderful staff who each year put so much effort into their costumes, with the hardest part.... trying to keep it a secret until the day, which some colleagues find very difficult!

Chloe and Lyn made a beautiful snow castle grotto that our residents and family members loved, we used this for our photos and family members had pictures took with their loved ones.

Christmas dinner was stunning as always, Andrea and her team delivered the most delicious 3-course meal, with so many compliments from residents and family members, great job everyone!

Lastly but certainly not least a special thank you goes to our entertainment, Dominic who sang some great Christmas songs, got everyone involved and made the atmosphere fun and festive.

Barbie who lives at Water Royd has a wonderful son, Mick who is very talented and plays the Saxophone, Mick kindly said he would love to come in and play for everyone. He was brilliant, everyone said how much they loved listening to the sound of the Saxophone and having a dance. Thank you again Mick, we really enjoyed having you perform.

All in all a brilliant day, thank you to everyone that makes it happen. We wish you all a very Happy New Year πŸ’™

We had a lovely day visiting Barnsley Christmas Market on Monday and getting into the festive spirit. The mulled wine went down a treat as did the mince pies. Barbie, Shirley, Betty, Eileen and Joan had great fun singing Christmas songs for passes by in the indoor market which made them smile! Everyone really enjoyed looking at the market stalls and the beautiful Christmas decorations πŸŽ„πŸŽ…

We teamed with up Myley Tours on Wednesday and had the best day visiting Barnsley Town Centre.

It was a little nippy outside so our first stop was to visit the famous Pats For Pants in the new Glass Works market where we got kitted out with cosy hats and gloves. We had such a laugh trying on the hats and deciding which we loved best. We had a Christmas sing song whilst going around the market, we certainly turned a few heads and helped spread a little Christmas cheer!

Once we had warmed up with our new attire and singing voices we headed to Primark where Betty, Ian, Laura and Rita all picked out a new Christmas jumper. Next stop was a nice warm drink and cake before heading to see the famous Kes statue and have a photo. That's where we met a lovely man busking and he sang Elvis 'Can't Help Falling in Love' for us. It was such a beautiful atmosphere!

We had the most beautiful day celebrating Armistice Day on Tuesday!

Our Lifestyle Co-ordinator Zoe made it extra special by bringing in her Nanan and Grandads much loved items, from their time in the Land Army, to their medals, tinned food, jewellery, all original documents and newspaper articles and our favourite, Zoe's nans Civil Service uniformπŸ€—

We found it so emotional and honoured to have the privilege to see such wonderful items and try and get a sense of how life was many years ago. The people living at Water Royd loved seeing all the items and talking about each piece. It really was a lovely day and fetched back so many memories!

Special thank you to Zoe and most importantly her Nanan and Grandad, Eleanor and Albert Booth who are pictured in the photographs for serving our country and for allowing us to see such special items!

Water Royd bonfire night 2025 πŸŽ†

Fantastic turnout yesterday at our annual firework display, thank you to everyone who came along, family, friends and our community! Pie and peas went down a treat, as did the drinks 🍻

Thank you to everyone who made a donation, this has now gone towards our resident fund πŸ€— The wonderful Billy Blaze entertained the lovely people living with us in the afternoon and sang some great hits form over the decades. Thanks Billy, looking forward to your return πŸ•Ί 🎀

Next stop, our favourite...........Christmas!
