Happy birthday 🎂🎉🥳 to our beautiful Irene. Irene tried to get out of her own birthday celebrations today. We had a little shindig prepared and she had already been whisked off.

We can't blame her as she went out with her family and took part in one of her favourite past times BINGO!

We are receiving some lovely gifts and shoes boxes towards our shoe box drive this year.

We would like to say a big thank you to everyone that has contributed and contacted us so far.

The response as always has been fabulous.

If you or anyone that you know would like to donate a shoebox for either a resident that doesn't have family or a shoe box to help for homeless veterans. That would be amazing 🤩.

Just one gift or card package could make all the difference to someone this Christmas 🎄🎁.

At the eleventh hour on the eleventh day of the eleventh month – we will remember them. We went down to the war memorial at the Barnsley Town hall for Armistice Day.

Bill and Steve donned their respective uniforms and paid their respects for the fallen heroes. Alongside staff, families, fellow veterans from the community and children from nurseries and schools from around the area.

After the service we were invited for tea and coffee in the town hall with some familiar faces.

Anne and Rachael laid the wreath on behalf of all of our residents and veterans that reside at Deangate.

The Mayor and Mayoress of Barnsley took the time to chat and thank our veterans for their service.

We will remember them 🫡

Thank you to everyone that joined us for our short remembrance service. As always it's an absolute honour to be with you especially over this time of reflection.
We started the morning crafting some beautiful poppies that were to form the backdrop to our service. Thank you Daphne for reading some beautiful prayers for us.

Thank you to members of the Barnsley armed forces veterans breakfast club, Cllr David Leech and his wonderful wife for joining us today. With special thanks to the ladies from the Barnsley Methodist Community for your contribution to the special service.

We wanted to share this amazing poem with you. This was written by a young man aged 11. They are his own thoughts about remembrance and what it means to him.
We shared the poem with our residents especially our veterans. They were so touched my the thought and powerful words that have been used. Thank you Edwin for such inspiring words 👏

Our thoughts and prayers 🙏 today will be with those that will be attending cenotaphs across the country and beyond. Our veterans and residents will never forget the sacrifices made by those to ensure a better prosperous life for us.

We will be holding a short remembrance service tomorrow on our home. If you would like to join us our doors are open to all.

Let us stand together and remember them 🫡

We still have poppies in our home in reception if you still require one not just for today or tomorrow but as a lasting reminder of what the poppy stands for.

They shall grow not old, as we that are left grow old. Age shall not weary them, nor the years condemn. At the going down of the sun and in the morning, We will remember them 🫡
