In 2017 I came across the Country Walking Magazine's 2017 challenge. This equates to 2.7 miles a day. This is my eighth year. Prior to covid 2020 I managed to lose some weight, feel healthier and definitely become fitter. Life has definitely got in the way over the past 2+ years. Illness, house moves, no home, renovating a new home and changing jobs. My health has taken a back seat and I need to change this and take some accountability. This year (albeit a little late) I'm going to commit to 2024.

The Christmas period threw our family into a bit of turmoil, when a family member became very unwell. Fortunately, things have improved and we are very grateful πŸ™ that our little family stayed intact. As you do, you just get on with things, until reality comes along and pulls the rug from under you. This can be hours, days, weeks, months or even years later. Well, mine happened yesterday, I felt so overwhelmed and out of control. You know the feeling, you berate yourself for not be able to cope, to brush it off, speak to yourself in derogatory ways and desperately hold back the tears. Luckily for me, I was at work and a beautiful person, gave it to me straight. She bolted me back to earth with a kindness that was gratefully received. Sometimes we need to remove the inner harsh voice/critic and gently ask ourselves......what would I advise a friend? We'd speak kindly to them, tell them to take time and look after themselves and that it's alright to cry and let it out. So today, make time and do something that makes you happy. It doesn't have to be a grand gesture, it could be a bubble bath, watching your favorite comedian, reading a few pages of a book or going for a little walk. You deserve it, you are worth it. πŸ’œ

Don't obsess on the scales, what are the non scale wins.
For the past three days I have walked at least 4 miles a day and I have eaten more than 8 veg/salad portions a day 🀚

If diets worked, we would all be thin. It's OK to eat when hungry, work with your appetite, instead of fearing it. Drink water, include lots of veg/salad/fruit and get off your backside and move more. My current strategy 😘😍πŸ₯°πŸ’œ

Who made weekends so challenging πŸ™†β€β™€οΈ, nooooo I won't be beaten. Good start to the day, a nice 4 mile walk with one of my bestie's, John and Tyty, in his new buggy. 😊 We then attended a horse sanctuary open day, to take some money from John's niece's funeral. The lemon drizzle cake was winking at me. Ever been in that conflict, do I, don't I, all sorts of scenarios go through your head. Sometimes we listen to those derogatory comments, you're useless, you can't do this. Well, I can. It's a piece of bloody cake, we know from years of dieting, deprivation doesn't work. Guess what, I had it, it was lovely and I haven't allowed my thoughts to sabotage my success. I tweaked my tea to be much healthier, I cut the carbs and piled on the veggies.πŸ˜‹ Tomorrow's meals are planned but always allow for flexibility. πŸ€”

End of day one!
On reflection, a good day πŸ‘. Is there any learning to be taken from today? Yes. I winged it and got away with it.πŸ€¦β€β™€οΈ The question tonight is, what's the why? Ask yourself why you want this. 😊 I've currently not set a goal and I didn't plan. Tomorrow is planned, starting with a walk and I've bought food for my meals..........bring it πŸ’ͺ, much more chance to succeed, rather than chancing my luck. πŸ™Œ

1st October 2022.
Accountability post.
Anyone who knows me well will know I find autumn difficult, this seems to be around the lack of daylight, early in the morning and dark evenings. That doesn't mean that it's all negative, there is lot of beauty to be seen in autumn. The other issue is my walking decreases as I lose motivation and I comfort eat. This usually results in me gaining some weight. Truth be told, I can't afford for that to happen this year, as I never lost last years autumn weight. I usually manage this in spring & summer. So this year I'm going to make an effort to change this pattern/habit and leaving autumn behind fitter and with some weightloss. (See if I can actually manage to post more than once!). So, this is where I'm going to post my journey, inspiration, challenges and results. I'd love you to join me but if not please feel free to unfollow.

Hands up βœ‹οΈ, who's struggling to lose weight. I stopped dieting a few years ago. I try to eat healthy 80/20, and when I am focused on this, it works. I also love walking; however, I do prefer walking with people. I am currently day off; however, having to isolate as the hubby is having surgery on Fridaay. I started the day feeling sorry for myself and straight away; my thoughts turned to food and what I could eat.
I decided to think of an affirmation that I could use today and came up: "You don't become what you want, you become what you believe." I have a menu planned for the rest of today and have done two YouTube exercises classes and feel much better. "Believe, and you will achieve." Have a lovely day πŸ’œ

Do you know that just two minutes of guided deep breathing can decrease your heart rate. Research also shows that deep breathing for just 30 seconds can help lower blood pressure and heart rate. In this busy world of ours, I'm sure we can dedicate two minutes on waking to set us up for a better day πŸ’œ
