Barnsley SENDIASS

Barnsley SENDIASS Special Educational Needs and Disabilities, Information, Advice & Support Service (SENDIASS) for Barnsley.

Please see the additional information section for further guidance about this page. SENDIASS page overview and values

This page is managed by Barnsley’s Special Educational and Disabilities Information Advice and Support Service (SENDIASS). Its purpose is to create an openly accessible space to support local families through sharing knowledge, resources, tips and advice as well as enabling families to come together and support each other. We have created a set of values to help guide and support you when interacting on this page with the aim of making it as safe and positive an experience for everyone.

- Be Kind and Courteous
We're all in this together to create a welcoming environment for all to be part of. Let's treat everyone with respect, dignity and kindness.

- No Hate Speech or Bullying
Make sure everyone feels safe. Bullying of any kind isn't allowed, and degrading comments about things like disability, race, religion, culture, sexual orientation, gender or identity will not be tolerated.

- No Promotions or Spam
Give more than you take to this group. Self-promotion or promotion of private organisations and services, spam and irrelevant links won’t be allowed. SENDIASS is happy to share posts that SEND parents, carers, children & young people might be interested to hear about

- Respect Everyone's Privacy
Being part of this group requires mutual trust. Real, open and expressive discussions make groups great, but may also be sensitive and private. What's shared in the group is open to the public and so be aware of what you are posting.

- Respect everyone’s unique situation
Our families all have different lived experiences and will reflect that through their interaction, no one should demean or belittle anyone’s individual interaction on this page as part of their engagement with the service. Inappropriate, offensive and abusive comments will be deleted, and individuals will be blocked / reported if deemed necessary to protect the safety and wellbeing of others. Hello to our FAMILIES, we have began working through the SEND School White paper and here is a little video of the key areas we think matter to you in response to some of what we know worries you. It’s not a perfect video and I might have some of the detail a little wrong but I think it gives you some idea of what’s planned for our children/young people.
Please feel you can add comments, correct anything we are saying or ask questions in chat.
We have a fact sheet too that can be emailed out to you so ask if you want it SENDIASS@barnsley.gov.uk

Happy Sunday to our Families! This is just a quick message about the SEND schools white paper that is coming out tomorrow and our plans to support you with it.

Hello All,

Hope you’re all well. 🧩

We expect to be busy next week as schools return. As always, we will endeavour to get back to you as quickly as we can. Our usual response time is 48 hour but this may increase slightly as schools return. 🏫 ✏️

We have had an increase in section I appeal referrals & due to this we are busy booking in locations for Tribunal Workshops. The workshop would be helping as many parents/carers as we can fill out the relevant paperwork. 📋 🖊️

We are hoping to book: Glassworks Library, Dearne family Hub, Wombwell & Pen*stone. (As well as holding some virtual evening sessions).

We will hopefully have confirmation of this next week & will be able to release information of dates/times. Please keep an eye on our socials for updates 🔔
