As we age, one of the most important things we can do for our bodies is strength training, especially as women?

After 30, we naturally begin to lose muscle mass (a process called sarcopenia). That loss of muscle impacts everything — our metabolism, balance, bone density, joint stability, and overall strength. Without resistance training, we become more prone to injuries, falls, aches, and chronic pain.

The good news? 💪
Strength training is one of the most powerful tools we have to slow and even reverse that decline.

Lifting weights (or doing bodyweight resistance exercises) helps:
💚 Maintain and build lean muscle
💚 Protect bone density
💚 Support healthy joints
💚 Improve balance & stability
💚 Boost metabolism
💚 Increase energy and confidence

But here’s the part many people overlook…
Recovery is just as important as the workout itself.

As we get older, our bodies don’t bounce back as quickly. Muscles take longer to repair. Inflammation can linger. Soreness can slow us down — or stop us from staying consistent.

That’s where cryotherapy comes in.
❄️ Cryotherapy helps reduce inflammation
❄️ Speeds muscle recovery
❄️ Decreases soreness
❄️ Supports joint health
❄️ Helps you get back to training faster

If strength training is the investment in your future, recovery is what protects that investment.
Train smart. Recover smarter.
Your future self will thank you. 💙

January is widely considered a highly stressful month. Here’s why:

Financial Strain following the Christmas period 💴

Darker Days & Poor Weather contributing to low energy and low mood 🌧️

The "Post-Holiday" slump and the return to work after Christmas festivities

Failed Resolutions leading to feelings of guilt and a sense of failure 😞

So now we are heading towards longer, brighter days why not give yourself a boost? 🚀

Whole-body cryotherapy (WBC) is recognised as an effective tool for alleviating stress and improving mental well-being through several physiological and neurochemical mechanisms
❄️

How Cryotherapy Alleviates Stress
💙Hormonal Regulation: Exposure to extreme cold triggers a surge in endorphins and dopamine, which are the body’s natural "feel-good" chemicals. It also helps regulate cortisol, the primary stress hormone, often leading to a more balanced emotional state over time.

💙Nervous System Activation: WBC initially triggers a "fight or flight" response, but once you exit the chamber, the body activates the parasympathetic nervous system (the "rest and digest" system), promoting deep relaxation and helping to combat anxiety.

💙Reduced Inflammation: Chronic inflammation is increasingly linked to mood disorders. Cryotherapy reduces pro-inflammatory cytokines, which may contribute to its stress-relieving and neuroprotective effects.

💙Improved Sleep: By inducing relaxation and regulating neurotransmitters like serotonin and melatonin, cryotherapy can improve sleep quality, which is crucial for managing daily stress.

💙Mental Resilience: Learning to endure the short-term discomfort of sub-zero temperatures (a form of hormesis) can improve overall stress tolerance and emotional regulation in everyday life.

✨ Renewed You ✨

I want to share something honestly, because it feels important - As this programme has been getting closer to becoming real, I’ve noticed my own nerves creeping in.

That familiar pattern of overthinking, second-guessing, wanting everything to be just right before taking the next step.

Living with pain and burnout teaches us how easy it is to delay what matters.
Not because we don’t care, but because staying still can sometimes feel safer than moving forward.

Through my own experience, and through working with so many women living with chronic pain, I’ve learned this:
when we’re not living in alignment with what really matters to us, pain and anxiety often become louder.

And when we take gentle, intentional action, (even when it feels vulnerable), something begins to soften.

Creating this programme has been an example of that for me.

✨ Renewed You is a small, in-person, 3-month journey for women living with chronic pain and burnout.

We’ll meet fortnightly in a calm, supportive space to slow down, listen to the body, explore what’s been held, and begin rebuilding trust from the inside out.

This first group will be very small, a founding cohort, and is being offered at a one-off discounted rate.

If this speaks to you, even quietly, you’re very welcome to message me for more details or have a conversation about whether it might be the right time for you. There’s no pressure.

Healing begins with listening.

What happens to “you” when you’re in chronic pain? 🤦‍♀️

Chronic pain affects more than the body. Over time, it can shape mood, identity, relationships, and a person’s sense of agency.

Many people understandably look to healthcare systems (such as the NHS) to fix the pain. When relief doesn’t come, it can leave individuals feeling stuck and waiting, hoping, or relying solely on external solutions.

At the same time, pain can become familiar. Even when it’s distressing, it may be held onto because change feels uncertain, overwhelming, or costly. This is not resistance or failure, it’s a common human response to long-term stress and threat.

Therapeutic work often involves a shift from waiting to be made better toward gently reclaiming responsibility for healing. This does not mean blame. It means recognising where choice, agency, and action are possible.

For many, there comes a point where the cost of taking action feels high. Yet the cost of continuing in pain, whether physical or psychological, is often far higher.

If you’re ready to explore a different relationship with pain, therapy can be a place to start.

How we can help

We work with individuals experiencing:

chronic physical pain and injuries
persistent symptoms linked to nervous system dysregulation
grief, loss, and identity changes related to pain
feeling stuck, overwhelmed, or reliant on external fixes

Our approach supports clients to understand pain, build regulation and self-management skills, and move toward sustainable change.

If you’re ready to do something different, get in touch to find out how we can help.
