🎉 Celebrating 35 Years of Service – Sue Burgan

This year we proudly celebrate Sue Burgan’s incredible 35 years of service in the NHS. Sue’s journey has been nothing short of inspiring filled with dedication, growth, and a passion for supporting both colleagues and patients.

Her career began at Doncaster Royal Infirmary, where she worked in the Chief Nurse’s office and gained experience across Contracting, Finance, Quality, and Procurement. Each role shaped her skills and prepared her for the next chapter.

When Sue joined Barnsley Hospital, she quickly became a valued member of the team. From PA to the General Manager, to Surgical Support Manager (a title that always raised a smile!), and later Operational Support Manager, Sue embraced every challenge with confidence. She even helped roll out Digital Dictation, sparking her love for Project Management.

Today, Sue continues to thrive in the PMO, where her leadership, problem-solving, and commitment to excellence shine through. She describes this role as bringing her “the greatest joy”—and it’s clear her colleagues feel the same about working alongside her.

💙 “The NHS has truly been my life’s work so far, and I feel so grateful for every step of this journey.”

On behalf of everyone at Barnsley Hospital, we thank Sue for her remarkable contribution over the past 35 years. Her dedication is a true example of what it means to be.

On Remembrance Day, staff and patients came together to honour the contribution of British and Commonwealth military and civilian servicemen and women in the two World Wars and later conflicts. The service offered a quiet moment for reflection and for those who wished, a personal act of remembrance.

We thank all who joined us in remembrance and reflection.

Pharmacies are part of the NHS family and the range of clinical services they provide has expanded significantly in recent years. It takes years of training to be a pharmacist. They are trained to spot so-called ‘red flag symptoms’ and it is common for pharmacists to signpost you to fellow health care professionals or even make formal referrals into NHS care pathways.

You can usually get an appointment with a pharmacist in no time at all, at your local pharmacy!
