If you’ve ever felt fobbed off, this will help
Generic exercises.

“Just stretch it.”

“It’s muscular.”

Sound familiar?

Your body isn’t generic.

You’re not the same as the gas fitter working in tight spaces.

Or the MMA fighter loading his shoulder.

Or the 65 year-old who just wants to walk properly again.

I ask:

When does it start hurting?

What were you doing?

How long into the session?

What changed?

Because pain has a pattern.

And once we see the pattern, we can actually do something about it.

If you’ve lost faith in treatment before, what would need to happen for you to trust it again?

SPORTS MASSAGE OR DEEP TISSUE…

Which one do you actually need?

I get asked this all the time in Barnsley.

So let’s strip it back.

If you’re in the gym 4 to 5 days a week.
Doing MMA.
Kickboxing.
Rugby.
Gym life, body building, training for an event, or just generally keeping fit and strong.

Sports Massage is usually where we start.

Why?

Because we’re looking at how your body moves under load.

What’s tightening up.
What’s overworking.
What’s not switching on properly.
It’s not just pressure.

It’s assessment, movement, and keeping you performing.

We’re looking at:
– What muscles are overloaded
– Where range of motion has dropped
– What’s tightening up under fatigue
– What might turn into a strain if you ignore it
It’s performance based.

Pre-event.
During heavy training blocks.
Post fight.
Post match.
We free things off.
Restore movement.
Keep you training.

Now…

If you’re a desk worker.

Sat 8 to 10 hours a day.

Shoulders rounded.

Neck cranked forward.

Or you’re a roofer, joiner, decorator.

One sided loading.

Tool bag on the same shoulder.

Up ladders all day.

That’s where Deep Tissue often fits better.

We’re working through deeper layers.

Breaking down stubborn tension.

Addressing postural stress.

Chronic back tightness.

Glute pain from driving.

Neck and shoulder knots.

It’s less about sport specific movement.

More about undoing life.

But here’s the important bit…

It’s not always one or the other.

A lot of you are both.
Train hard.
Work hard.
Recover badly.

That’s when we assess properly and decide what your body actually needs.

If you’re not sure which one fits you…

Message me and tell me what you do day to day.
Let’s get you moving properly again.

I train the same way I treat.

I squat.

Bench.

Deadlift.

Hill sprints.

Air bike.

4x4 at 160kg deadlifts.

Then I go to work and stand on my feet all day.

I feel tight pecs.

Elevated shoulder.

Lat pulling one side more than the other.

So I fix it.

Acupressure ball.

Mobility work.

Posterior chain strengthening.

Same rules I give clients.

Maintenance isn’t theory to me.

It’s daily.

“Sports massage is too painful.”

Only if you think I’m trying to win a fight.

I work on a scale.

If you’re holding your breath or trying to crawl off the table that’s not productive.

Tension doesn’t release when you’re guarding.

We warm tissue first.

We work into adhesions gradually.

We let the nervous system settle.

It’s controlled.

It’s targeted.

It’s not YouTube drama.

Worried it’ll hurt?

It’s not just about getting you off the table feeling looser.

It’s about you understanding why it happened in the first place.

This client’s been to see me a few times over the last year.

Different issues.

Different ni**les.

Each time we’ve broken it down.

What’s caused it?

Is it load?

Posture?

Fatigue?

Strength imbalance?

Then we get hands on.

Work through the adhesions.

Free up the tight tissue.

Get range back where it should be.

And then the important bit…

How do we stop it coming back?

What do you need to strengthen?

What do you need to stretch?

What needs managing in your day to day?

After every session they walk out feeling better.

That’s the goal.

Not just relief.

Understanding.

If you’re in Barnsley and you’re fed up of the same issue cycling round…

Message me and let’s actually get to the bottom of it.

Ever stopped running because you “didn’t trust” your body?

Not because you can’t run.

Because you don’t trust what’ll happen at 6k.

Or 9 miles in.

That hip starts tightening.

That lateral quad turns to rock.

Your posture drops when you fatigue.

You slow down.

Or you stop altogether.

It’s not weakness.

It’s compensation.

Your body’s overworking somewhere and underperforming somewhere else.

Imagine running without that constant doubt.

When was the last time you felt confident in your stride?

Don’t do this if you want to stay pain free
Don’t just treat the symptom.

Neck hurting?

So you rub the neck.

Lower back tight?

So you stretch the hamstrings.

But why is it happening?

Is your scapula protracted?

Are your glutes weak?

Is your posterior chain fatiguing at 8–9k into a run?

If you don’t ask those questions you’ll just keep going round in circles.

I see it all the time in Barnsley.

Relief is easy.

Fixing the pattern takes thought.

If you’re serious about staying on top of your body,
drop me a message.

“It’s probably just age.”

No.

You’re not old.

You’re tight.

There’s a difference.

I’ve had 60+ year olds moving better than 30 year olds.

What’s usually happening?

Years of:
Sitting.
Working.
Lifting.
Running.
Not maintaining.

Adhesions build up.

Fascia tightens.

Glutes switch off.

Posture shifts.

That’s not ageing.

That’s accumulation.

And it’s fixable.

If you’ve been told to just “accept it”,
message INFO for information.

10 hours a day sat driving a bus.

Middle back.

Lower back.

Left side constantly aching.

Sound familiar?

This client came to me after being recommended in Barnsley.

Bus driver.

Long shifts.

Same position.

Day in, day out.

We found two solid knots.

One in the back.

One in the left hamstring.

That posterior chain was working overtime.

So we got to work.

Sports massage.

Targeted pressure.

Loosened the restrictions.

Then the important bit…

Exercises to do before work.

In between shifts.

After work.

Not just “see you next week”.

Actual homework.

Now?

Back feels brand new.

Pain has settled right down.

Booked in for more sessions to stay on top of it.

If you’re sat all day for work and your back keeps “going”… don’t ignore it.

Message us and let’s sort it properly.

Who’s pretending their back “isn’t that bad”?

You wake up stiff.

Takes a few steps to straighten up.

But you crack on anyway.

Work.

Gym.

Kids.

School runs round here.

You tell yourself it’s just tight hamstrings.

Just a niggly lower back.

But deep down you know it’s been building.

Posterior chain overloaded.

Glutes not firing.

QL doing too much.

You don’t need to be broken to get help.

You just need to stop ignoring it.

If that’s you… how long has it really been going on?

5 ways to know your pain isn’t “just tight”

It only kicks in after a certain distance or time.

It disappears when you rest.

It swaps sides.

It comes back stronger after hard sessions.

You’ve stretched it… and nothing changes.

That’s not “just tight”.

That’s fatigue.

That’s compensation.

That’s something else picking up the slack.

Your glutes switch off.

Your ITB gets loaded.

Your traps overwork.

Your QL tightens.

The body doesn’t break.

It adapts.

Question is… is it adapting well?

If you’ve been chasing the same ni**le for months,
message me and let’s look at when it starts, not just where it hurts.

15/02/2026

Quick heads up for my regulars.

If you know you’re due in… get it booked.

Weekday evenings are filling up.

And weekends are going fast too.

Especially the later slots.

If you’re on a 3–4 week maintenance plan, don’t wait until you’re stiff again.

You already know how much better it feels when we stay on top of it.

Less flare ups.

Less tight traps.

Less “my back’s gone again”.

You can book through the booking link.

If nothing suits, message us directly and we’ll see what we can do.

Stay ahead of it.
