✨ BIG NEWS NORTH DEVON! ✨

We are SO excited to introduce ourselves as the new owners of Mini First Aid North Devon! 👋💚

From 28th February, we’ll officially be taking over and relaunching the North Devon franchise of the multi-award-winning Mini First Aid 🎉

💚 We’re Sam & Ross!

👩‍🏫 Sam has been part of the Mini First Aid family for years, previously training with a fantastic Hampshire franchise and then owning Mini First Aid Dorset for 18 months, helping thousands of people feel more confident in emergencies.

👨‍🔧 Ross is an engineer in the Royal Navy, bringing calm, practical skills to our new adventure. He has co-owned Mini First Aid Dorset with Sam for the last 18 months, and is now excited to also run Mini First Aid North Devon and Mini First Aid Somerset!

First aid isn’t just something we teach, it’s something we truly believe everyone should feel confident in 💪

🚑 What’s coming first?

We’ll be launching with:
✔️ Our amazing Baby & Child 2-Hour Class
✔️ First Aid at Work
✔️ Paediatric First Aid
✔️ BLS for Healthcare Professionals
✔️ Our much-loved Children’s First Aid classes (ages 3–16) in schools and community settings

And once we’re up and running… we’ve got even more planned 👀✨

This launch does come with a little name change. We are now Mini First Aid North Devon, so any followers from Somerset, please head to Mini First Aid Somerset for any region specific posts and updates.

Could YOU be a Mini First Aid Trainer? 🚑

✨ Mini First Aid North Devon & West Somerset is growing! ✨
Due to expansion, we’re looking for additional freelance trainers to deliver a range of first aid classes across Devon & Somerset.

🗣️ The most important thing?
You’re a great communicator, passionate about the importance of first aid, and keen to learn. Full training and induction provided 🙌

✅ Ideally (but not essential), you’ll have or be willing to gain:

📚 Qualifications:
• First Aid at Work
• Paediatric First Aid
• Teaching Qualification (Level 3)
• Safeguarding Training

⭐ Essential requirements:

🚗 Full driving licence & ability to travel across Dorset & Somerset
🛡️ Current DBS check (or willingness to complete one)
👨‍👩‍👧‍👦 Happy to deliver a variety of courses, including:
• 2-hour first aid classes for parents
• Children’s first aid classes
• Workplace first aid courses
🗣️ Clear, confident communicator
⏰ Flexible – includes evenings & weekends

🌟 Desirable (but not essential):

👩‍🔬Background in teaching, nursing/midwifery, first aid or medical fields
👨‍🎓Experience delivering training or first aid sessions

💚 A New Chapter for Mini First Aid North Devon & West Somerset 💚

Today I’m sharing some big news…

I’ll be handing over Mini First Aid North Devon & West Somerset to its new owners, Sam and Ross Murray.

This business has meant so much to me. Supporting families, schools and nurseries across North Devon and West Somerset, helping you feel confident in life-saving skills, and meeting so many wonderful parents and professionals along the way has been an absolute privilege.

I want to say a huge thank you to every single person who has attended a class, recommended us, supported the business, or cheered me on over the years. Your trust and encouragement has meant more than you know 💚

I’m absolutely delighted to be handing things over to Sam and Ross. They are passionate, dedicated and truly care about empowering families with the confidence to act in an emergency. I know the business is in very safe hands and I’m excited to see it continue to grow under their leadership.

Watching a video tutorial or 30-second reel demonstrating how to perform chest thrusts on a choking baby is not going to give you the same learning experience as watching and practising the technique in person.

When you take an in-person first aid class with Mini First Aid, you'll see our expert trainers demonstrate the techniques in front of you on life-sized baby and child mannequins.

You'll get hands-on with the mannequins yourself, experiencing exactly where to position your hands and fingers, feel how deeply to properly compress during CPR and get immediate feedback on how you are managing, helping you make adjustments and get it right.

You'll have time with our expert trainer to ask questions and practise until the techniques become second nature.

This month, the Government launched a chickenpox vaccination programme in the UK, which aims to protect around half a million children each year

GP practices will offer eligible children a combined vaccine for measles, mumps, rubella and varicella (MMRV) - the clinical term for chickenpox - as part of the routine infant vaccination schedule.

According to Government research, chickenpox in childhood results in an estimated £24 million in parental lost income and productivity every year in the UK, so it’s hoped that the vaccine will mean children miss fewer days in nursery and school, so parents will not need to take time off work to care for them.
