🌟 Children in Need & Caring in Our Communities 🌟

As we come together this week to support Children in Need, it’s a powerful reminder of how important care, compassion, and community truly are—across every generation.

While today shines a spotlight on children who need our help, it also encourages us to think about the wider network of care in our society. Just as vulnerable children deserve safety, support, and kindness, so do the elderly individuals who depend on domiciliary care every day.

In many ways, carers—whether supporting a child or an older adult—share the same mission:
❤️ to protect
❤️ to uplift
❤️ to provide comfort
❤️ and to bring dignity into someone’s daily life.

Our domiciliary carers work tirelessly to ensure older people can remain in the place they love most—their own home. They provide not just personal support, but companionship, reassurance, and a sense of continuity. Their work is every bit as vital to the well-being of our communities as the incredible projects funded by Children in Need.

So today, as we raise money and awareness for children, let’s also celebrate the carers who give so much of themselves to support those in need—young and old.

Because caring isn’t limited to one age group.
Caring is a community effort.
And together, we can make life better for everyone. 💛

Belated birthday wishes to Samara, we hope you had a fantastic day celebrating!🎉🥳🎂

🌺 Remembrance Sunday 🌺

Many of those we care for may have personal or family memories linked to wartime.

Show sensitivity – some may find wartime memories emotional or painful. Allow them to share as much or as little as they wish, and take the time to listen and encourage story telling.

Recalling past events engages multiple memory systems (episodic, semantic, and autobiographical memory).
This “mental workout” helps keep neural connections active, similar to how physical exercise helps maintain muscle tone.

The act of organising and narrating memories strengthens executive functions like sequencing, attention, and verbal fluency.
This kind of conversation helps preserve language skills and can slow the decline of verbal abilities in early cognitive impairment.

SHOUT OUT 📢📢📢

On a recent review client MH could not praise carers JM and NF enough for their care and compassion shown during her recent fall, not once was she left alone and MH said they are a credit to the company for their compassion and going above and beyond 💜

Well done both 👏👏👏

We are always so very proud of all our carers but more so when the quality of care being provided is recognised.

Port Road West in Barry will be closed from 9:30am–3:30pm on Saturday 8 and Sunday 9 November while we carry out essential tree felling works 🚧👷

The closure will run from Colcot Road Junction to Highlight Lane 📍

Unfortunately during inspection, we found fungal decay at the site which weakens the trunk and roots, and a detailed safety assessment showed the risk of the tree falling was higher than acceptable.

It’s always sad to lose a mature tree, but safety has to come first.

The good news is we’ll be planting a new tree in the same location as part of our ongoing replanting programme 🌳

Access to homes and businesses will still be available while the works take place, and clear diversion signs will be in place: Waycock Roundabout → Pontypridd Road → Jenner Road → Colcot Road → Port Road East (and vice versa)🚗

Vehicles under 7.5T can travel eastbound from Waycock Roundabout up to Highlight Lane.
