Happy Meet the team Monday! This week’s focus is on Penarth - Sian joined Arbuthnots in November 2012, and has been running the Penarth practice like a well-oiled machine ever since.
Sian enjoys working as part of a fab team, and loves getting to know all our patients. One particularly memorable moment was when an 18-month-old patient came to collect his first pair of glasses - the look of pure amazement on his face as he discovered the world in sharp focus for the first time was unforgettable.
Outside of work, Sian played skittles for 40 years. Now that she has ‘retired’ from skittles, it has been replaced by regular weekly outings with her pub quiz team.
Sian is a busy Nanny to one young granddaughter already - and with grandchild number 2 due in the summer, 2026 is going to be a busy year!

It’s time for another little Meet the team Monday…..and there’s not many people who won’t already know dispensing optician Sharron. Sharron joined Ted Arbuthnot in the practice on the summer of 1981 and has been here ever since.
In that time Sharron has made such a huge contribution to many patient’s lives - maybe she sourced the most fabulous new glasses for you on one of her trips to European optical exhibitions, or maybe she helped you finally crack getting to grips with contact lenses.
Sharron has always enjoyed sport and fitness - many a patient will tell me they have been on the squash court or golf course with her. These days, gardening and “the girls” keep Sharron just as busy. We are all grateful to “the girls” - Sharron’s chickens Honoria, Fumi, Daisy and Flora - as we have all enjoyed their eggs when there’s too many for Sharron to use herself!
