The British Acupuncture Accreditation Board (BAAB) fosters and monitors high quality educational and professional standards, so that the general public can be assured that graduates from BAAB accredited programmes are knowledgeable, reflective, competent and safe acupuncture practitioners.

⭐ The focus of the BAAB’s work is the accreditation of higher education level programmes leading to a professional qualification in acupuncture.

☯ BAAB accredited courses offer a thorough grounding in Chinese medicine theory and clinical practice, together with western medical sciences, research and practice management, to provide an integrated understanding of both traditional eastern and modern western approaches to healthcare.

🎓 Students and graduates of BAAB accredited courses are eligible to join the British Acupuncture Council (BAcC), the UK's lead governing body for acupuncture.

📍There are currently six colleges dotted around the UK offering a minimum of three-years, full time, degree level 6 training.

This is absolutely fascinating. I treat a lot of ME/CFS, long COVID and fibromyalgia. Acupuncture genuinely helps to lift the exhaustion and manage the pain. Western medicine has very little to offer for these conditions but Chinese Medicine can really make a difference.

Acupuncture gets a great write up in this week's edition of Chat Magazine, in an article featuring a patient of BAcC acupuncturist Sahar Hooti from AcuCare Clinic International. Sahar's patient Leanne Curran from Portsmouth, explained how traditional acupuncture helped her get her life back after struggling with chronic fatigue and pain as a result of ME (Myalgic Encephalomyelitis). According to the ME Association, over 400,000 people in the UK are currently living with ME, and with over 1 million people reporting symptoms of chronic fatigue as a result of Long Covid, that number is steadily increasing. I’m passionate about treating mental health. I have successfully treated many patients for anxiety and depression and supported many others with more complex mental health issues.

Here’s hoping that acupuncture for mental health can be yet another thing added to the growing list of things that NICE guidelines recommend acupuncture for.

Whilst acupuncture has been included as a first line treatment within NICE guidelines for some time now, many GPs have been quite slow to get on board with this.

British Acupuncture Council members, of which I am one, are Professional Standards Agency accredited meaning that we are perfectly placed to collaborate with GPs and other healthcare professionals.

Earlier this week I attended an event at Lichfield Guildhall with friends about the Witchfinder General. This is me being accused of witchcraft by John Hopkins, the self appointed Witchfinder General, simply for practising acupuncture.

Now I’m absolutely sure that as an acupuncturist who aims to treat pain without medication, helps women to conceive both with and without IVF and as someone who questions why my patients are on the medication that they are on, I am sure that Big Pharma would love to burn me at the stake 🔥🧙🏻‍♀️

I’m not anti-medication at all, and for many people it is essential that they continue to take their prescribed medications. But I do feel that it’s far too easy these days to reach for a pill or injection for a quick fix when there may be a better way.

If you’re not happy with the side effects of your medication, are looking to reduce medication or simply don’t want medication in the first place then please reach out to me to see if I can help in any way.

Last week I attended the Woman Who Solopreneur awards.

I was blown away to be a finalist in these national awards. Unfortunately I didn’t win this time but I can’t grumble as I was an award winner at the Woman Who Achieves awards earlier this year.

It was lovely to see other women with such inspirational business have their time in the spotlight.
