From March 2nd–7th, our St. Luke's Hospice Shops are celebrating World Book Day by offering every child a FREE book to take home and enjoy.

Pop in after school, or on Saturday, select your book and enjoy time together reading. Plus, if your child finishes the book during the same week, they are welcome to come back in and swap it.

Meet Rebecca, our Strictly St. Luke’s dancer paired with professional dancer, Stuart.

“I never really knew much about the Hospice or what it did. I guess I mistakenly thought the same as most people, that it’s a sad place that people go to die and something I never thought I would experience. But on 3rd April 2016, after a four year battle with cancer, at the young age of 60, my Mum, my rock, best friend and Nannie to a 6 month old granddaughter, held my hand as a tear ran down her cheek, whilst the sun set on her time here.

“Three months after Mum’s passing, I started on my mission to spread the word of the Hospice, this homely place that was filled will laughter, stories and memories.

"Strictly Come Dancing was mine and my Mum’s Saturday night TV. I’m doing this for her. I know she will be there watching on the night.” - Rebecca.

Our dancers have trained tirelessly with their professional partners and are set to wow the Brentwood Centre on 21st March for Strictly St. Luke’s. Our host, former Strictly Come Dancing professional Ian Waite, will also be taking the stage for two showcase performances.

We are in the running for a Waitrose Community Matters grant of up to £1,500 and we need your votes.

This grant will support the delivery of care in the In-Patient Unit at St. Luke's Hospice Basildon, so if you’re popping into Waitrose in Billericay between now and the end of March, then please vote for us by dropping your little green token into our box.

A big thank you to ShareGift for donating £1,000 to St. Luke's Hospice. This generous donation will support the delivery of vital care in our community for those whose illness is no longer curable.

ShareGift collect small lots of shares and donate the funds created to charities. Often unwanted because they are too small to sell, these shares can be transferred to ShareGift at no cost to the shareholder, aggregated and sold to benefit different registered charities.
