Strengthening Wellbeing through Movement & Connection

Every week, Basildon Mind hosts gentle yoga sessions designed to help you slow down, breathe, and reconnect with yourself.

What looks like simple stretching is actually a powerful way to reduce stress, ease anxiety, and lift your mood. Participants tell us they leave feeling calmer, more grounded and more connected after each session. For many, it’s not just about the movement — it’s about being in a supportive space where they feel understood and welcomed.

When local GPs and health professionals recommend community-based activities like yoga, they’re offering people practical, evidence-based ways to manage stress, anxiety, and low mood. It’s a reminder that improving mental health isn’t always about medication alone — sometimes, it starts with connection, routine, and gentle movement.

At Basildon Mind, we’re proud to provide these opportunities every week, helping people build resilience, reduce isolation, and take meaningful steps toward better wellbeing.

If you would like to learn more about our wellbeing acitivities or support our work, we’d love to hear from you. Contact us at www.basmind.org or call us on 01268 284130

Our Impact 2024/25

We're proud to have hosted over 220 award-winning Walk and Talks, promoting activity and social inclusion across Basildon, Billericay and Wickford.

But don’t just take our word for it – here’s what our walkers have to say:

- "I feel walking with Mind, I've got a routine and made new friends."
- "I feel happy being with people and not alone."
- "I feel walking helps my mental health and I feel supported."

Join us as we continue making a positive impact on our community!

Check out our social media for the full walk schedule.

Our weekly walks are a friendly and relaxed way to enjoy nature, boost your mood, and connect with others in your community.

Guided by an experienced Walking Leader and supported by a qualified Therapist, each walk offers a safe, welcoming space to unwind, share, and feel supported. Walking regularly can reduce stress, lift your spirits, and help improve your mental and physical health — all while enjoying gentle movement in the fresh air.

Building Hope, One Home at a Time

At Basildon Mind, our supported housing projects are more than just a roof over someone’s head — they’re a foundation for recovery, independence, and community belonging.

Every day, our dedicated team works alongside residents who are rebuilding their confidence, managing their mental health, and taking steps toward brighter futures. These homes offer stability, understanding, and care — the essentials that many people need before they can begin to thrive again.

But the need is growing. As demand for mental health support rises, so does the number of people who need a safe, supportive place to live. With greater community awareness, local partnerships, and sustainable funding, we can ensure that no one faces mental health challenges without the security of a home and the support of a compassionate community.

Together, we can build hope, restore dignity, and change lives — one person, one home, one community at a time. 💙
